i'm new to working out run/cardio everyday twice a day. i heard that HIIT is best for maximum fat burn. what would be a good example of a HIIT workout? let's not make it too hard though lol i am an ex smoker and i'm still getting into the groove

You can do HIIT with any aerobic activity - running, biking, stair climbing, etc. I've seen routines that prescribe a certain number of seconds for low pace work and a certain number of seconds for high pace work and how many times to do each interval, but any routine where you alternate between sustainable paces and high intensity sprints is a HIIT routine in my book.
When I was doing HIIT, I would go more by feel - occassionally throwing in a sprint of several seconds until I had to slow down to my regular running pace (or even a walk) then after a bit at my regular running pace, I would sprint again. I started with one or two sprint intervals and tried to work up to five or so. My routine was probably not optimal, but it was simple enough for me to follow.
BTW, HIIT twice a day would be too much in my opinion. Your body will need recovery time.
