I decided to start having a decent snack before my workout to increase my energy. I had a yogurt and oatmeal bar about 1 hour before I worked out. I felt drained during. Was this a bad food/timing option? :burger:

Maybe it was the yogurt. Try eating an energy bar or a protein bar half to one hour before workout.

My preworkout meal is the same as postworkout. Dextrose and pro powder anywhere from 1hr to 30min before. I've even taken it almost immediately before training and felt fine. Also, all the meals preceding your preworkout should be enough to prevent "drainage." Well, unless you are on very low carb, or work out first thing in the morning I suppose.

30g dextrose, and 1/2 scoop of protein 30-45min prior to training.

solid food should be two hours before

i use cup of oats with two scoops whey isolate about 30min-1hr before workout, oats will burn slow and sustain energy
