Hi everyone, I am new to the site here. I used to lift fairly regularly, but last year needed surgery for bilateral hernias. It kept me sidelined for a total of six months, but now I am finally ready to get back in the gym and lift. Owning a typical hardgainer's metabolism, I lost ALOT of weight and physique during my six months down time. I was thinking about WBB #1 to start off with, but maybe you all could see my pics and help customize my routine better? Thanks!

are you on dial up?

- try to reduce the size of your pics
- if they are bmp, convert them into gif

The pics are there, but to see them you have to scroll all the way down and to the right. Sorry about that!

(also, you can hold the mouse over them and then click on the icon to enlarge the picture as well).

You don't appear to have any signs of hardgainer metabolism. I'd just focus on putting on 10-15lbs, using compound lifts and moderate caloric intake, then cut back down.

Looks like you have a pretty good base to build on. Impossible to see height there, but I would think that (as the GMan says) ten to fifteen pounds would really improve your physique. Deadlifts, squats, bench press, a few other staples and a clean bulk and you'll look great. Good luck!

Thanks for the input gentlemen!

You know, I always considered myself a hard gainer until I had my operations. Nothing like 6 months on your ass to enduce a little body fat (or alot).

Right now I am 5'10" and 160 lbs. Do you think I should bulk up to 170-175 and then cut, or are you saying I should bulk up to 180-something and then cut down until I'm at 170-175 lbs.

Also: When trying to figure out how many Calories one needs to be consuming daily during a bulk, is there a formula you can use? Or how often do you give yourself before deciding to adjust Caloric intake? Thanks in advance!

For bulk you calculate about 18-25 cals per lbs of body weight so for you like 4,000 clean cals a day.
