Obviously the Egg is one of the single most important food items to a bodybuilder and is in general a million-uses product, but I read somewhere in another thread that you must cook the egg in order to get any nutritional benefits from it. Now, many people think that drinking raw eggs is more potent than eating any kind of cooked egg, I mean even Rocky drank a mixture of raw eggs during his training! So what is it? I've done some reaserch and I can't find any information on the effects of cooking an egg over eating it raw.

Cooking destroys avidin in raw egg whites -- otherwise, avidin would bind biotin and some iron present in the egg yolk, and make these nutrients unavailable

When egg white is cooked, avidin is denatured and denatured avidin is digested by proteolytic enzymes.

Deficiency in biotin, may result in hair loss, dry scaly skin, cracking in the corners of the mouth (called cheilitis), swollen and painful tongue that is magenta in color (glossitis), dry eyes, loss of appetite, fatigue, insomnia, and depression. Animals deficient in biotin during pregnancy are more likely to deliver newborns with birth defects such as a cleft palate.
