I've heard that Whey protein is only useful post-workout since it digest so quickly. Does this mean that taken at any other time during the day, since it digests so quickly, that it is completely useless? I've always wondered this.
I mean I don't get it....pro bodybuilders supplement 3-4 shakes into their diets a day, but why????

You can have as many shakes as you want during the day, but it's better to get you rprotein from whole food.
Pro BBers drink several shakes during the day because the consume a very large amount of calories (something like 8 or 10,000) so it easy to get a good part of them from shakes. If need to consumea lot of calories, shakes are your friends. If you have watch what you eat (like I do) whole food is better.

some might argue that a hydrolyzed whey protein would be much faster than a typical WPC for digestion, and if your in the camp of believing that this makes a difference, then it would be the way to go IMHO
