Hi all -

How many calories to i need to drop/burn to equate to 2lbs a week. Is it 500/day? If not, what is it (average... I know everyone's a little different)? I read it somewhere before, but now I can't remember. Let's say my maintenance is 2500, then would it be 2000. I have a lot to loose, but I don't really want to go more that 2lbs a week so that I stay healthy and loose as little muscle as possible.

Let me know.

A pound of fat is 3500 calories. Two pounds is 7000 calories, divide that by seven days, and you get 1000 calories per day. So you need to eat 1000cals under your maintenance to lose 2 pounds a week.

Although the math is right and i agree with the numbers. I wouldnt eat just 1000 cals a day.

devhuman - what are your stats? goals (obvious)? What does your daily diet look like?

I didn't say to eat 1000cals a day, I said eat 1000cals a day UNDER maintenance. If his maintenance is 2500, then he would be eating 1500 cals a day to lose 2 pounds a week.
