Red Bull and Alcohol

How unsafe is it to have red bull and alcohol together if you are drinking in moderation?

I know that I shouldn't be drinking if I want to pursue powerlifting, but I'm not really interested in giving up drinking on the weekends right now.

but i dont see how 1 night a week it will hurt much, iff u drink 4-5 and not go crazy

My understanding is drinking energy drinks with alchohol can and have caused heart related problems, mostly in people with pre-existing condtions. I have been to lots of bars that don't serve drinks like that anymore. The combination of stimulants and depressants can mess your system up if there is already something wrong with you or in high amounts.

Everytime I go out I drink redbulll/vodka. I drink up to 6-8 of those babies everytime Im out, and Im yet to have any problem with my heart.

Shouldn't be a problem in moderation if you're otherwise healthy.

If you have high blood pressure, red bull (a stimulant) isn't smart.
If you have depression, alcohol (a depressant) isn't smart.

a can or redbull per shot of vodka is way overkill.
IMHO you should limit the total cans of redbull to 3-4.
You can EASILY do double vodkas with a single can of redbull.
IMHO you can get 2 vodka doubles and split a can of redbull amongst the 2 drinks.
If its to strong them get some OJ in there.
This way you'll get the pep of the redbull, the kick of the vodka, and it wont taste like battery acid and make your heart pound harder than the music.

Red Bull no longer contains the stimulants that may cause this to happen. Every bar I've been to in the last 6 months has served redbull + liquor.

Red Bull has the same ingredients that it has since first introduced into the American market.....it hasn't changed. The primary stimulant is caffeine.

i once took one tablet of sudafed (ephedrine HCL), 3 tablets of thermocuts, two 200mg coffein tablets, a couple of green tea extract pills and then went out and drank somewhere around 5-7 redbull/vodka and tons of beer. I remember this cause I scrambled it down before i went out. By my calculations I should have been dead, but all it gave me was a really bad case of the jitters. I just couldnt stand still and I could literally feel my heart beat like crazy for a couple of hours.

it's stupid. ONe time i had a energy drink. The bottle was in the shape of a grenade. IT was called blue bomb or something like that. Had similar ingredients to red bull. I did this before going to a club with a good number of shots. I started to feel really tired. my heart wouldn't stop pumping. My testosterone took a huge hit. Girls rubbing my crotch and I'am not getting it up!!! That scared the hell out of me. Felt horrible. Never drank any energy drink again.

YOur mixing stimulant with depressant. Might not effect you now but you don't know what damage your doing inside.

Pour both at the same time until the glass is full. :)

I'm almost 100% sure that it used to have ephedrine in it. This is why it was banned in north america and then re-introduced without it. Ephedrine itself is not banned, but I believe they put a ban on supplements or products that contained ephedrine in it. So basically you can only get ephedrine in it's pure form, not included on an ingredients list.

Of course it wouldn't have said ephedra or ephedrine, it would have said ma huang, the herbal equivalent, just as it says guarana now for caffeine.

Then you don't have a very good understanding bro. Energy drinks with alcohol won't cause heart problems. If that were the case, then most of us would be having arrythmias when we go out on the weekends. And in those WITH pre-existing heart conditions, I doubt a drink like this would do anything to exacerbate the problem. That to me, isn't an energy drink, its a fruit juice.
