i need help.

I'm running XP Home Edition, and everytime i click on 'start' and then on 'control-panel' or any other windows related program I get a pop-up saying :

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program :C/WINDOWS/explorer.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state.The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

and then im returned to my desktop.

wtf is this? and how do I fix it?

I'd just reinstall the OS.

Well first of all you could try making sure you have all of the windows updates and also office updates?

You can go to microsoft.com for these. Often this can sort out little problems.

If not, I'd agree just flatten it and start again :)

Try a system restore and go back to the last day it was working ok and see if that works.

get a C++ decompiler and sort it yerself lol :p

a format would probably be best as explorer is a very important program, without it you basically cant do anything.
