View Full Version : Help Me Increase Calories

So some how I can't consume calories like I used to. I thought I was eating close to 4000 calories a day before. Now I'm barely going over 3000. I think it's because I stopped eating subway for lunch every day and started bringing 2 turkey sandwiches, which still add up to about 800 calories. Subway gave me 1000+ calories per footlong.

Here's my fitday (http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=arneson&Year=2004&Month=9&Day=6) for today. I haven't been very good about tracking lately, but this is pretty standard. Some times for dinner I'll have 2 chicken breasts and 2 or 3 baby red potatoes instead of tuna and red beans and rice (go back to Oct 5 to see).

Now, can you guys make suggestions to bump me up closer to 4000 calories? If I had to guess, I'd probably tell myself to add something to my lunch.

thanks,
ryan

1 tablespoon of peanut butter? Make that about 6 and you're halfway to 4000 already. Then, have a couple tablespoons of olive oil or flax oil and some nuts and you'll be sitting pretty.

 I hate to say it, but umm... just eat more food. Organize your meals so you know you will get sufficient calories. Eat two lunches.

rawr! I forgot, I take flax oil. And I never thought about peanut butter. About two lunches, I suppose I could try that, but taking that much time to eat when you have a **** face prick of a boss is hard.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming.

A solution to my past calorie problems: Drink some olive oil. lol, yes I mean it. I think Vido has even endorsed this... activity.

Sure...or just down it by the tablespoon...or put it in a shot glass if you're really hardcore.

I can only eat so much oatmeal. But it's actually pretty easy to eat, even if you're full.

You can eat endless amounts of oatmeal if you don't cook it. It's when you heat it up and it expands with water that it gets filling.

I also started doing that recently.

And the olive oil shots.. oh boy.. take a few of them and you'll be feeling sick for a while.

Olive oil shots are nothing...wait til you start doing shots of vinegar ;).

Maybe I'll think twice before doing that.

So for oats, I can blend them and put them in my post-workout shake, but I only eat 1 shake a day. What do I do with the rest of the dry oats?

Sounds delicious. I usually get either Turkey, Ham and Bacon or Meatball. So combining the two, mmmMMM!

An easy way to add calories is to drizzle some olive oil onto your sandwiches, and mix oil and sugar into sauces etc.
