ok well ive tried everything so far so maybe having a journal will help me track my progress more thoroughly.

age:20
gender:male
hieght:5'2
wieght:180

been liftin since i was 16. (maybe thats why im so short) been liftin seriously since april of this year and have made some great progress. I finally started eating right and sleeping good and a solid training schedule but have since hit a plateau i cant get passed i have been stuck at 285 (bench) for 2 months now.

goals: to get past my plateau and get back to previous wieght of 150lbs.

as of april 2004
bench: 205
military press: 135
squat: 275
dead lift: n/a

as of sep 27th 2004

training split

monday- chest,shoulders, tri's
tuesday- bi's, back
wends-legs
thurs-chest, shoulders, tri's
fri-bi's, back
sat: off
sun: off

I train my abs 3 times a week but no set days.

Cardio- cycling 3 times a week 20 miles each session , and some light jogging on the treadmill on the days i dont cycle. I play basketball pretty much everyday for at least 30 mins.

thanks a lot for the compliment. yeah ive been really buckling down recently trying to get all my lifts up and put some good size on. but im do for a good cut in the next month or so.

nutrition

wake up- eat a tuna sandwhich(pure white albacore-wheatbread) and a banana- roughly 45g protien
3 hrs later- 1/2 cup brown rice 2 boneless skinless chicken breast- roughly 80g protien
2 hrs later- a big thing of grapes and an apple
3 hrs later- 1 cod fillet 1 salmon fillet with 2 slices wheat bread- roughly 50g protien
for dinner- 2 boneless skinless chicken breast 1 cod fillet and 1 cup of brown rice
before sleep- nighttime protien and a banana

bignic -thanks alot bro, im really trying to push past my plateau and i dont know if going heavy is gonna get me there. i think im gonna start concentrating on my incline but i dont even know. if anyone has any good input id appreciate it..

cardio

played basketball for an hour
treadmill for 45mins (mid/high intensity) intervals of 5 mins at 8mph 5 mins at 4mph

gonna try for some legs tonight my back is a little sore from yesterday.

i kept thinking that i too was going to stop flat benching as my chest didnt get a whole lot from it. Then i changed my form up a little, i took the bar below my nipples, did a slightly wider grip, and arched my back a lil. This worked well. No i do flat benching, incline dbs, and a lil pec deck or cable work

below the nipples with a wide grip hmmmmmm.. i dont think i go below the nipples just right on top of my chest. im gonna try that the only thing that sucks is since im short i cant go that wide without having someone lifting the bar off to me and racking it cause i cant reach :-( but thanks alot bignic ..i think im gonna try that on thursday and just focus on form and the contraction..

sounds good. I just noticed we train quite similar. Are you going to failure on your last set. If so thats basically yates style, which is what ive based a lot of my training on.

yeah i do go to failure on my last set. so thats yates i was gonna say i dont even know what yates was.. yeah but we do have a pretty similar training style. but my back is nowhere near yours... but at least it gives me inspiration :-)

Damn, nice training. You've got hella strength, and it looks like you've already made some mad progress. Keep it up, dude. Are you training more from a bodybuilder or a powerlifter perspective?

frozen: thanks a lot bro.. umm i dont know yet, i want a nice looking body but at the same time im addicted to strength. and now that i started deadlifts who knows. i think thats why i joined here to give me the inspiration i need and some good advice, cause even though ive been liftin for a while i still dont know the terms and all the diff excerises everyone here knows. so hopefully with time i can learn all i can from the people here at wbb. by the way your avitar is niiiiiiccccee, ATHF rokcs

Hey man look up dorian yates. He was a former mr olympia. Basically, he trained in a method of one true work set to complete failure. Yet he used many progressing warm ups.

For instance,

225x8-10 (taken to failure)

So essentially thats one real work set.

Are the DB Presses hurting your delts? I'd take a week off of 'em if it's a muscular issue, but if you're feeling discomfort in your rotator cuffs, try some glucosamine.

no not really hurting my delts but with incline db's it takes a lot out of them so when i get to military i barely have any left.. yeah im trying to get some glucosamine to helep with the koint probs...

btw, i think you should drop the lat pull downs and try chins or pullups for a while. I did this and it helped a lot. Maybe think about throwing a free weight row also, in place of the cable or in addition. A t bar or a bent over bb for instance. Not trying to tell you how to do your ****, but ive really done well with switching to these.

yes bignic i am using a straight bar. i use the ez curl sometimes when i start going heavy cause the flat bar kills my forearms..
yeah i wanna start doing other things for my back i did bb rows last week.. but i think starting next week im gonna leave the latpulls out for a couple months and work on chins and bb rows.(those are my fav) no i know your not tellin me what to do, just constructive critiscim which i always welcome buddy...

Nice workout man, try adding another row. Maybe Low Rows on the Cable machine w/the V Bar. I love those for a good squeeze in the mid back. Also, try some dumbbell pullovers, you'll ge some massive lat development. Just a suggestion. Either way, good workout man.

Good on the biceps too. The seated hammer are killer for the biceps.

If forearms start hurting too much where it hinder's your back work, go get some wrist straps. They'll help alot just make sure you don't use them all the time, so you don't lose any of your forearm strength/size.

well if it werent for the 2000 people there tonight i would have gotten a better w/o but i have to make do with what i got. and i guess that teaches me to either go really early or really late.. so tomorrow i think ill try at around 10am.... after i wake up of course...

Chomer- yeah the guy yold me today that there was about 750 peeps working out there lastnight.. and no promotion my gym is usualluy pretty busy but ever since it started getting really cold out people just flock to the gym at like the same time everynight... so no more 4-10 pm for me cause it was insane you could barely walk lte alone lift... and thanks a lot bro dedication is one thing im not lacking its the muscle part im lacking :-(

Good job getting the workout in. I ran into that problem when in college. Everyone would hit the fitness centre after their last class and it would be packed in there. I started doing the late night/early morning thing then. Of course I also started doing the skip the early morning class thing then too, lol.
