Eat a lot of carbs and candy and steak/chicken. Hard gainer is pretty much nonsense, just eat everything you can no matter what. Try for 3500 calories a day, if you dont gain in a week then add more. Dont listen to the BS that people talk about when they say "too many carbs" "simple sugars are bad" "eat low fat etc ec" "take that out of your diet". Just eat all you can , get at least 150g of protein in and lift, you can worry about those feeble diet things when you reach a good weight like 180-200

Why would you ever recommend eating candy?

Try plugging your info into the calculator found here: http://www.ast-ss.com/asp/weight.asp

and add 1000 cals to it (while still trying to keep the same protien fat and carb ratios) and go from there. You describe yourself as a hardgainer (ectomorph) so that might be a good place to start. I was a hardgainer until I started following that plan.

More like a lazy bulk. There is no benefit in choosing a candy bar over healthier calories.
