The owner of the gym I work out at has kind of taken me in and started training me sort of and giving me tips and opinions on dieting and routines... He gave me a bottle today of HMB and said I need to try it.... He said it will just help keep me from soreness and help muscles repair faster and better. (Something like that) I just wanted your thoughts on it, and is it a good idea if I am still on a cut of E/C till end of December???

I bought a bottle of HMB on the suggestion of a personal trainer. Ive found its effects to be noticible though minimal. It makes it a little easier to workout the next day. I would not spend money on another bottle again.

Thanks for feedback, I will give it a try because like yall said, it was free, and he has been in the game longer that I have been alive. Just today he showed me pictures of him in competitions with Ronnie Coleman back in 1990, I though it was pretty interesting. But thanks again....

Not to change the subject, but Mirco-Lactin seems to be the new muscle recovery supplement of choice. Science marches on ....

Correct me if Im wrong but it seems like a replacement for glucosamine sulphate, its written joints not muscle repair.
from the site:
What does MicroLactin™ do?
MicroLactin™ is a revolutionary new dietary supplement clinically proven to promote healthy joint function. This unique product has been shown in published clinical trials to significantly decrease temporary joint pain and stiffness and significantly improve mobility and range of motion. It is well tolerated and easy to take.

That's what the actual website for the microlactin says, but At Large is marketing it as a recovery tool to reduce DOMS as well as the joint benefits. To be honest I haven't a clue what the basis for that claim is and it might just be from the trial they did with the mods/some long time members of this board.

Its of interest to bodybuilders due to its positive effects on joint function yes, but apparently there is a secondary effect that might help with endurance and recovery
Double-blind Controlled Trial on the Effect of Stolle Milk on Recovery After Exercise in Highly Trained Runners
This study was conducted at the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA, 1993 to determine the efficacy of Stolle milk powder as an ergogenic aid to performance in runners. Twenty highly trained, non -seasonal, distance runners who had been consistently running for three or more years were recruited. After a 4-week baseline period during which all runners consumed 45 grams of placebo nonfat dry milk reconstituted in water twice daily, runners were randomized into a Stolle milk and a control group, on a double-blind basis, and followed for 6 months.
Both Stolle milk and control milk were well tolerated. Side effects related to milk consumption were negligible. The following apparent benefits were detected in the runners consuming Stolle milk:
Highly significant runner perceived improvement in training
Improved 5 kilometer race times
Faster recovery time between training sessions
Significantly shortened creatine kinase (CK) recovery times
Slight but significant decrease in % body fat despite a slight increase in body weight

If you're taking larger doses (3-6g per day) as part of deliberate overreaching (e.g. negative- only training), I've found HMB can have a noticeable effect--at least for me.
In most other cases, you probably won't feel *****.
