I recently bought climbing chalk. I've cut one end of nylon stockings and filled it in the chalk, and I've put this "chalk dispenser" in a small container. This way it barely leaves any mess except for the place on the bar where you gripped it.
Deadlifted today, my highest set, which was not to faillure, was 370*6, it was easy to hold (mixed grip), while before using chalk I could barely hold 325 for 6 reps. I was really surprised.
It feels a lot better than straps and it doesn't ruin my attention like straps do when setting them with the knees on the floor and then having to put myself in position.
Chalk lets you use the full potential of your grip. Amen.
