Me, I generally don't tend to put my MA related work in my LIFTING journal, but I thought some of you may or may not enjoy this entry. I don't get to train that often as lifting and recovery takes up time. Names are from another website I post on.
Journal Entry for Nov. 4, 2004
Topics of Interest: "I Got 'Knocked Out'" and "Yeah my shoulder feels fine!"
Um, let's start with "Yeah my shoulder feels fine!" as it happened a few weeks ago.
So I was doing some training Thurs night with Karatefighter, and he got me in odd kimura from mount, but anyways, the way he did it isn't too important but I can explain it. So I actually need a few min to rest my shoulder before he did stand up sparring. Did stand up sparring, all good. The next day I'm in the gym, trying to increase my maxes on the flat dumbbell bench...which I did. But as I'm going for that fifth and final set, I have trouble getting them up into place. I finally struggle to get it in position above my chest, then suddenly my left shoulder collapses and the dumbbell drops nice and hard on my chest. Great fun all around! :D Iron body conditioning.
Now for "I Got 'Knocked Out'"!!!
Start off with some background, or excuses rather...
After partying too hard and staying outside in the cold wind Sat night, I woke up really sick on Sunday. Basically non-stop sneezing from morning to night and bed ridden. So, guess what? Next day I wake up, no sneezing at all, hey let's hit the gym! So, heavy squats, but the cold episode took some of my chi away so I didn't manage too many sets. But still, hard training that day in the gym. Rested tues, but that tues night one guy I fought before wants to go again on Thurs. Ok, no prob, so I spend one whole hour on Weds afternoon working the bad and fixing any problems in form. Then Thurs, things kinda fall through, I was supposed to train with karatefighter, and he would officiate our sparring match, but karatefighter had to go so that all was cancelled.
Went to MT/karate instead. Was supposed to have lunch with my ex but she forgot (legit reason though, I don't get played :D ) so had dinner instead, only free time to get together was 4:45, so I just ate right before MA class. Felt like throwing up when I got to MT class, then did all that conditioning crap, with my body still tired from the bag workout yesterday. So, just before the sparring part of it, I skipped out, and got sick in the washroom. Probably the food, because the conditioning wasn't that hard and I'm a badass! :D
Come back, do some leg only sparring with D**** (MT style, rib injury and chin stitches from kneeing himself doing a backflip) with 'reminder taps' to the face when hands dropped a bit. Then M*** (Okinawan karate black belt) asks to cut in, and he and I do at it for a bit, really really not there, he's getting the better of the exchanges and I'm just not feeling it. Clinch, throw some punches and stuff, he tries to trip me to the wooden floor, I kick him in return. Then clinch again, on the way apart he steps in and sidekicks me in the gut. Yeah. Not good for that stomach...I continue on for a few more seconds, couple more rushes, but I feel like I'm gonna barf on the floor so I call a stop to it.
What did you all expect exactly?!?! :)
I have a strong chin! :D
I was wondering to Aesopian about why I'm having trouble with karate stylists lately then I realise he is bigger, stronger and more experienced than me, but I will land the axe yet!
Cheers!
