Hey guys,
I treated my self to a celebratory cheat meal last night, and had an awesome big olde half rack of ribs smothered in BBQ sauce. I was just wondering how bad RIBS actually are, I mean, does anyone know any of the nutritional facts, or what a RAck of ribs might have in terms of protein, or fat, or carbs (BBQ sauce.) Cool thanks alot.

Dead animal is not a cheat meal! Perfectly fine at all times provided you keep to your caloric limit when cutting.

I whole heartedly disagree! Ribs, porterhouse, Fillet mignon...mmmm. I classify those cuts of meat as MAJOR cheats. Ribs in particular when they are rubbed with some brown sugar. mmm...again.

Ribs are probably fairly isocaloric, with the protein being decent quality, and the carbs and fat being poor quality.

If you're going to cheat though, ribs are certainly one of the better choices for you. Anything that has some substance to it isn't bad, ie., pizza, mexican food, chinese. It's when you get into the baked goods, or snack-type foods like chips, that you get in trouble imo.

Why? They may be calorie dense, but the protein is good, the carbs are nil, the only thing is the fat isn't too great. But even saturated fat and high protein is better than just empty sugar calories. Again, you must take into account total calories, but other than that I think they are fine. Even the sauce or rub if bad is not going to be in a high enough quantity to make a huge impact.

Most ribs are absolutely bathed in a sugary sauce...more than enough to make an impact.

Well, when you make them you have a choice.

Oh sorry, I was just assuming he meant ribs from a restaurant. You're right in that case.
