Every time I stretch backwards (i.e. arch my back, stick out my chest, etc.) I get some sort of pinched nerve or something that makes it painful to bring my back straight again. This goes away in a few minutes but it's pretty annoying. Anyone else experienced this? Could it be due to putting more muscle on my back? The pain is right up next to my spine, I guess alongside the left spinal erector, at about mid-back.

P.S. it doesn't hurt when I do deadlifts or squats or anything, because those involve bending the other way...

so you say you round your back when you squat and deadlift?

Nope, just that it's more likely to go that way than backwards, if it bent at all. I only get the problem when I arch it pretty much as far as it will go.
