For some reason I've always been suspicious of protein bars. Somethinig tells me that anything that is in the shape of a candy bar can't be that great for you.

But I'm looking at these Nitrotech Carb Control bars and they don't look that bad.

In general, is whole food always better than protein bars?

Im with the stupids. Whole food will always be better than a protein bar, but they do have there advantages ie. quick and simple.

Are there any negative repercussions from protein bars being at least half my food source each day? My local GNC is in a dead mall, and I have appointments at the mall each Monday morning.. suffice to say, I usually get first choice of the 90% off products. It works out well since I'm on a limited budget. This week I got $400 worth (about 8-10 boxes) for $40. I'm a little skeptical about the 20g carbs, but "2 net carbs" than anything.. but otherwise, am I setting myself up for any problems aside of "well whole food is better"?

It would be better to have more than 50% whole food. However, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
I have periods of 6-8 weeks where most of my nutrition comes from bars and shakes.

Whole food is definitely preferred, but I know I'd sell my first born for a Detour Bar right now. Holy effing crap those are good.
