What is the advantage of having brown rice over lets say basmiti rice? My mom only buys basmiti, so if there is indeed a big advantage I will consider buying brown for myself.

Personally I would avoid rice altogether. High GI, low protein, low fibre.

The general purpose of eating brown rice is because it is the least processed.

Yeah, the rice I've been eating is called "brown basmati rice" so i figure it's good

Just to follow up, I generally use continental lentils or bulgur wheat where one would typically use rice or pasta. Macro wise they just can't compare.

Personally I would avoid rice altogether. High GI, low protein, low fibre. The GI only means something if that's all you're eating is the rice. If you're eating it with other foods, the GI can change.

Crip, they're both fine.

Personally, I prefer the taste of brown, but it really doesn't matter all that much.

brown has that pilaf flavour w/o all the work, basically.
