Alright, hopefully this journal will keep me straight. Some stats - 6'2", 214 lbs., no idea of measurements or BF%. My split is 7 days:
Back
Chest/Tri
Abs/Obliques
Bis
Legs
Shoulders
off

I'm currently bulking; I want to get up to 225. I eat about 4500-5000 cals/day, 300g protein. That's when I eat what I'm supposed to, but sometimes I slack off. I also want to get my combined bench/squat/dead over 1000. Right now I can bench about 270, squat about the same, and deadlift about 350.

I'll get measurements and pics soon, give me a day or two.

Today was bis, but because of freaking xmas shopping yesterday I had to do abs too. I did:
EZbar curls - 2x8,6 @ 95
Machine curls - 2x12 @ 75
Hammer curls - 2x7 @ 35
DB Wrist raises - 2x10 @ 20

Decline situps - 2x8 @ 35
Leg raises - 2x10 @ 20
Decline oblique twists - 2x10 @ 20
DB Sidebends - 2x10 @ 60

I had a good pump going on the bis, but after all that ab crap it was gone. That's why abs are on their own day - so they don't ruin my other workouts. The abs were tired as hell though, I'm gonna be real sore tomorrow.

Diet (in chronological order):
1 bowl of Life, 1 glass OJ
A roll of Ritz crackers
Wawa turkey hoagie
bag of Chex mix
Protein shake post-WO
dinner - chicken, rice, beans, milk
10 spoons peanut butter, milk
Approx. 100 oz water throughout the day

My diet at home is weak. When I get back to school my girl will make my food, but when I have to do it here a lot of stuff gets left out (esp. breakfast). I know I have to eat a lot more to gain weight.

Gotta love a woman that cooks. I told my girl that while most guys think about sex every 4 seconds, I'm thinking about food. So get your ass in the kitchen and whip me up something good.

No major changes in diet today. Wawa sucks, I could make a better sandwich standing 10 feet away and throwing sh!t at a roll.

Today was legs. I did:
Squat - 3x4 @ 245
DB Lunges - 2x7 @ 40
Calf Raises - 2x8 @ 145
SLDLs - 2x8 @ 185, 205
Abductor/Adductor - 2x8,6 @ 210 in; 2x10,8 @ 230 out

For whatever reason squats always feel hard, no matter how little weight I'm lifting. I was intending to do about 6-8 reps but it just didn't happen. For calf raises I got stuck using that thing where u sit down and put ur thighs under the pads. I can never lift much weight with that contraption. The wheels were real tired though.

My abs are about 8/10 soreness, obliques are 6/10, bis are 4/10, forearms are 3/10.

Today was shoulders. I had to abbreviate it because I got sixers tickets. So it was:
DB Shoulder press - 2x7 @ 80
Side Cable raises - 2x8 @ 25,22.5
Bent-over side raises - 2x10 @ 25

Legs are about 8/10 soreness.

Diet was the same today with the addition of a muffin in the morning and a little more water throughout the day. Day off tomorrow from lifting, hopefully I can get most of my shopping done.

Yesterday was back. I did deads and goodmornings and felt fine (hit a PR of 365 on deadlift), but afterwards I got a real sharp pain in my back/side. It's not so bad today though so it's probably nothing serious.
Workout:

I've been gradually finding more to eat. I'll post what I ate today later on tonight.

Soreness is 7/10 chest and 2/10 tris.

pretty much the same as before with some fruit and nuts added.

The squat felt good today. The more I do them the better my form gets. I've never failed on a squat though, which I kinda want to do. Maybe next week. So right now bench/squat/dead is at 270/275/365 = 910, and I can definitely do more on the squat. This is the first time in a while that my squat is more than my bench, so that's a good thing. Gotta keep working those legs.

Nice build Doobs. You've got good size and great proportion. 1000 lb combined lift is a great goal. I'm about 225 lbs away myself. It's one of those milestones that not a lot of people hit.

Deadlifts were a struggle but I pulled it up. Back is 9/10 soreness. I'm going to add hang cleans at some point soon.

We'll see how good it really is tomorrow.

I had to cut it short because I had to get work done on my car. I knew if I tried for 3 reps on the squat I would fail, and I got scared. One of these days I'll go to failure. So that adds another 20 lbs to my total: 270+295+375 = 940.

Bis are 8/10 soreness.

My diet is good, but I still need to eat more. I started back up with creatine today; this is after about 1.5-2 months off, so I'll probably put on about 5 lbs. I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning.

I'm getting enough hours of sleep, but I stay up too late, so I'm always tired. That's one thing I have to work on.

I weighed 218 yesterday. My diet is good when I wake up before 12, but when I sleep late I have trouble getting all the food in. Today I ate:
yogurt with granola
big piece of banana bread
egg salad sandwich and milk
better cheddars
chicken parm and pasta, green beans, garlic bread and milk
4 egg whites and a gatorade
peanut butter and milk

today I woke up at 1 and I only had a half an hour before class so I just at the yogurt. Monday,Wednesday and Friday I don't have that problem (no class). My goal is to one day wake up at 10:30. Yeah... it's a tough life I live.

Got to sleep last night at about 3:30-4, woke up at 11:35.

I did some hanging from the chinup bar today (1 minute) and I actually felt taller. I'm going to do this at the end of every workout.

yogurt and granola
PW shake
chicken parm sandwich, milk
stromboli, milk
4 egg whites, gatorade
peanut butter, milk

I've been eating when I'm not hungry, so without counting the cals I would guess that I'm over maintenance.

Somehow I gained 5 lbs in the last 4 days, I weighed 223 this morning (no food, clothes, etc).

Shoulders weren't very sore yesterday (3/10), but my back was. It was better today though.

This workout was bizarre. I ended up doing basically the whole thing for hamstrings. I've been reading a lot about west side and other powerlifting stuff, and I'm not sure what direction I want to go in. I like the idea of going for strength but I'd feel weird if I don't do a lot of the lifts I'm used to. What the hell am I talking about

OK I've had enough of being weak so I'm going straight-up west side (or as close as I can get). A speed day and max day for both bench and squat for 60 min, as well as some extra 30 min workouts here and there.

For my 1RMs, I'm going with 285/315/375 bench/squat/dead.

Today was max effort bench:
Flat bench (close-grip) - 10@45, 10@95, 6@135, 5@185, 3@225, 1@275, 1@285, miss @ 300
DB extensions - 7x8 @ 40,40,35,25,25,25,25
Front DB raises - 4x12 @ 30,25,25,25
Chinups - 3x8,6,5 @ 20,15,15
DB rear delts - 4x8 @ 20

I was suprised at how much I could bench with a close grip because I've never done powerlifting style. I think my form is probably pretty good. 7 sets of extensions is ridiculous, but that's what Louis Simmons said to do. I basically had nothing left for the chinups, so that's why the weight was so low.

That 285 brought my total up by 15 lbs, so I'm at 285+295+375 = 955. Only 45 lbs to go. I'm going to try this thing for at least 8 weeks even though I'll probably pass 1000.

As expected, my tris were real sore yesterday and are still sore today. I'm sleeping about 7 hours a night, but at least I wake up before 11. Diet is slowly getting worse because my girl's been sick.

Dynamic Squat today:

It was real hot in there so I didn't do the 3rd set of side deads. It's gonna be interesting in the special workout later today when I have to do tricep extensions again. I'm liking this workout so far though.

GOT IT! Maxed out at 300 today, which gives me 300+325+375=1000. So I guess I have to make a new goal or two. I want to deadlift 400 and bench 3 plates, and I guess the next logical goal would be 1100 total. So since I hit that 1000 close to the beginning of this cycle, we'll see if I can get 1100 at the end.

ME squat today:
Deadlift - 5@135, 2@185, 1@225, 1@275, 1@315, 1@365, 1@405 (PR), 1@425 (PR), miss @ 450
zerchers - 4x10 @ 135
pulldowns - 2x12 @ 18
spread leg situps - 3x8 @ 35
calves - 3x10 @ 200

Way too much warmup on the deadlifts. I almost got 450, got it off the ground but my back was arching so I dropped it. If I didn't do the 405 or 425 I would have gotten it. The 405 was a PR but it went up no problem. So now my total is 1050 (300,325,425). The next goal is 450 deadlift (2xBW), but it'll be a while before I deadlift heavy again.
