Sugar that doesn't get burned off usually turns into fat. Sodium is different person to person. It can be bad for your blood pressure, but some people (like myself) can add salt to everything and never have to worry about it. I hope.

sugar cuases the biggest insulin spike. If you abuse sugar over time your pancreas can give up and then you can either become hypoglycemic or a diabetic. Over dosing on sugar is more dangerous then a lot of people know. Many people live with low blood sugar or high blood sugar and don't even know it. Stay away from white refined sugar. Only sugar you should eat is from fruit or turbinado molasses.

salt isn't as dangerous. many can get away with eating a lot of sodium. like mentioned above people with high blood pressure or people who have a family history of it should reduce their amount of sodium.

sodium will cause water retention also. and many processed, pre-packaged foods are high in sodium. One example - deli meats, espcially those oscer mayer 'lunchables'...they typically contain at least 35% of the US RDA for sodium, some of htem actually have 50%. Eat one of those, and then have a big mac and fries for dinner, and you're over the RDA. Combine that with lack of exercise and a family history of heart disease/high blood pressure, and you're just asking for health problems.

Eating a clean diet, however, removes so much excess sodium, that it should be fine for you to lightly salt foods. In fact, a sodium deficiency can cause problems too, as sodium is an electrolyte the body needs to function properly.

there is ridiculous amounts of sodium in packaged meats. There's no need for it either. Just like how there's so much sugar in so many things. There's no need for it. It's all the governments plan to make people sick so doctors can make money. ;)

Why would someone refine and process the natural state of something besides trying to get rid of bacteria when it just cost more. There's no sense in it unless there's a conspiracy...

It tastes better, and is the cheapest way to get rid of bacteria which they are required to do. Consumer's like good taste.

It only taste better cause your used to it. YOU knowthe most tasteful foods usually aren't the best for you. If they would put low sodium or low sugar in things maybe too much would taste bad.
