Right now I have whey blended with gatorade and a banana as my PWO shake. Should I forget the banana and just add more gatorade?
(Also, does it make a difference if I eat the banana separately...does that slow the absorbtion and make it less effective?)

Banana is ok in a pwo but you have too much sucrose and fructose in your pwo. If I remember correctly, gatorade is sweetened with sucrose and glucose syrup (I think, I don't have any here). Your pwo shake should have fast acting sugar in the form of (ideally) dextrose or if thats not available, maltodextrin is fine in my opinion. The breakdown should be something like 30 protein and 60 carbs, with most if not all coming from the listed sugars. Don't worry about the sugar in your protein powder. Assuming that it is a pure whey powder and not a weight gainer shake.
