how much oatmeal (dry measure) do you have. just curious because people always say "a cup" but it could be dry or cooked, which makes a big difference.

I eat probably close to 2 cups. I don't care about the calories. It's extra energy and fiber in the morning.

usually mine is different every morning, but since im running low on funds sometimes the standard 10 egg whites 2 cups of oatmeal (dry) a tbsp or two of peanut butter and some fruit will suffice.

Part 1 is usually a whey shake w/milk w/natty pb and/or milk powder. This keeps me going until I get to work, about 30 min. later.

Part 2 is usually something along the lines of a VAT of oatmeal or egg whites or cottage cheese, and some fruit. Or maybe four or five hardboiled eggs, a bagel and fruit. a VAT is about the size of a large bowl and a half, just to give you a visual image. :D

How is 4 pieces of bread equivalent to 0.5 cups of oats?

I cant eat much in the morning either man. I can get down like maybe a can of tuna and 3/4 cup of oatmeal. Thats if i get up when i should 7-8ish. I can eat like a champ again by 10:30, but i really have to force it in the morning.

It should be more like 5oz dry. But it's not equivalent, I was just merely saying that sometimes I don't eat 4 pieces of whole wheat bread, but have some oats instead.

One big big big bowl of cereal, usually muesli with the lowest sugar content I can find. And whole milk filled as high as possible while not being so high that I can't carry it :)

what's the point of low carbs in the morning? I don't know what your schedule is like but most people could use the extra carbs for fuel in the morning.

On work days I always have the same boring thing:

2 dl oatmeal
0.5 l low-fat milk
30 g protein powder
2 tablespoons of ground coffee
some safflower oil (amount depending on how eager I am to gain weight)

All goes into a shaker. Shaken. Drank.

Everyone think this should taste like crap, but really, it is not that bad! But the main reason I have this is so I don’t have to waste time at eating breakfast in the morning: It takes maybe one minute to prepare, and then I can “eat” it at work. (Well, I’m happy with this…;-)

Actually, sometimes the very first thing I have is a small shake on about 30 g of dextrose and 25 g of whey. I have this in the morning if I haven’t had my middle-of-the-night protein and fat. Some people think this is a good idea; it might give a little “kick-start” to wake up the ole metabolism in the morning, and to stop catabolism . I guess I do it partly because of that, but mainly because I’m absolutely starving when I wake up on these mornings.
