OK, I've read a bunch of stuff online about when to take creatine and have see numerous opinions on timing your intake. It seems one conservative approach is to take it about half hour to an hour before your workout, which is what I've done in the past.

I'm curious though, what would the impact be if you simply took it first thing in the morning, or close to bedtime? It would be a lot easier for me to maintain consistency if I could do it this way. And despite all the reading I've done (oe maybe because of it), I'm confused as to why the timing should matter all that much as long as you're taking in a proper amount on a regular basis.

I just add it to my post-workout shake. I don't think it would really matter when you took it. There are more important thing's to worry about. ie diet etc.

some believe that for optimal creatine absorption it's best to take it after workout when your muscle cells are primed for taking up nutrients. Other than that it doesn't matter in the long run.

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna start taking it at bedtime, and suspect I'm not gonna see any big decrease in recovery time with this less than 100% optimal schedule.

I would agree that post-workout is your best bet, but anytime should be sufficient. The difference isn't large enough to be concerned.
