JB discusses what really happens to your muscles overnight and what you can do to save your muscle mass (and your money) while you slumber.
Discuss away! :)

good article, my only question, i've always though that muscles grow during sleep (outside the gym). From what i understand muscle grow for the first half of the sleep? and than catabolic state takes over?

from what i understand*^ yes, if you don't have enough protein at the time.

great article...any one ever tried the Low-Carb Grow he recommends?...even though he does recommend this i think i might stick with my 1/2 of 1% cottage cheese, wit a 1 scoop nitrean in about 10 oz. of skim milk as my before bedtime snack...

It's a marketing gimmick, regardless of what anyone says. GROW is a reputable protein, there's no denying that, but to say that it is the one source that you need to fight night time catbolism off is stretching the truth.

100% Milk Protein Isolate just before bed....and 4 hours into sleep fit the bill of what he's trying to achieve? It's 80% casein, 20% whey, correct?
By the way...why does anyone buy protein blends...or casein when you can just buy MPI and get an 80/20 split?
I understand using whey for post-workout....but if you're looking for a protein powder to fill in for a meal here and there....or something before bed, is there anything better than Milk Protein Isolate? (especially if you want to try the "nutrient timing" and "bedtime" protein needs John wrote...)
