Thanks Coke and Cola!! ;)

Well I had my second day of work today, but then I was really busy getting trained up on closing procedures (I worked till 10 pm) so I didn't have time to check when I'm working tomorrow, so now I have to get up at 4:30am so I can see if I have to be in at work at 6am. Sucky....

Hopefully if I'm not so much of a zombie before/after work that I can't focus my eyes and stand up, I'll make it to the gym. (Before=I didn't have to do the morning shift, after=I did).

Wow.
Today was intense. That's the best word to describe it. Intense work, intense eating, intense work training, intense weight training. Awesome.

Had a sales training thingo at work which took up about 2 hours of my shift, and then I was back on the floor, in a deluge of moaning, smiling, impatient, friendly, nasty, ******ed, helpful people. (The good ones by and large being my co-workers, the bad our customers). Although some of the customers were pretty nice. Unlike one man, who took it upon himself to make me want to punch him in the face for good measure.

Man: "Where's the Draino?"

Me (already serving someone): "It should be in one of the three aisles right here (pointing)."

Man: "Do you work in this store?"

Me: "Yes."

Man: "I KNOW it's in one of those aisles!! Obviously!! Do you know WHICH ONE it is??!"

Me: "Actually sir, I don't work in that part of the store, I work over here, and I'm new... but I can find someone to help you if you want."

Man: "Yeah, you do that."

So I went and asked someone where it was, in addition to something else for another guy (which took 15 seconds total) and I get back, and the first guy's gone. What an asshat. He deserves to be kicked in the nuts and then attacked by a wild pig just on principle.

Other than that, my day wasn't half bad.
Got some more clothes, too. Went and tried on some jeans, and it appears that my ass just won't fit in what I used to wear at all. In fact, I've gone from about size 32-34 to something like 34-34 or even 35/36-34 in the space of a couple of months. Awesome. So I got cargos instead, because I ain't going to fork out for jeans when they're not adjustable and they won't even last more than two months.

I'm finally (pretty much) over the nasty cold I've had for the past week. What a prick of a thing that was.
Now I'm back into the training, with a vengeance... this time, I'm actually going to eat properly, instead of defeating my own effort by having a screwy diet. I'm really getting sick of being small. I am going to be BIG.
And with that, I am changing my routine. This one's going to be something like the one Chris Mason outlined in that thread in bodybuilding/fitness, but I'm going to change things slightly... mostly in the areas of set/rep schemes (I think I get better growth out of higher numbers of total sets/reps) and I might do some rows too. Basically, it's going to be fewer exercises, more sets, and pretty much all compound work (no isolation).

I think I'm going to have to keep doing these instead of 'normal' squats from now on, for the sake of my knees. I wasn't built to squat. I have to go extremely wide to even get close to the floor. Nice to see an increase in weights, though.

Matt, Getfit and Kiaran: Thanks! That was actually a really good workout, considering I hadn't worked out in a week and a half, and probably hadn't done legs in about 2 and a half weeks :)

Today was great diet-wise. I think I've taken in about 5000 Cals, which should be enough for now, provided I can consistently take that many in for a week. Then I'll see if the scale moves.
Also, managed to find a pancake mix shaker, which I'll be taking to work as a protein shaker. Should be great.

Legs are pretty stiff. Although some people say soreness isn't a sign of growth, I say it means that you at least did SOMETHING to your muscles. Hopefully, in my case, it was the right thing.

And now it's time for some decent sleep. I've been up for about 17 hours.

NEW ROUTINE DAY 2
================================================================

DB SHOULDER PRESS:
15's x 10
35's x 4
40's x 2
50's x 5!
50's x 4
50's x 2.5
45's x 5
I was afraid of getting that weird back twinge again, even though this time I had a back on the seat instead of just a bench. So I dropped them after 2.5 reps with the 50's. Oh well. I'm pretty sure 50x5 is a PR, although last time I did something like 45x8....
Actually, 45x8 is a LOT more total poundage. But I don't care. Screw it. I like exclamation marks.

DB FLAT BENCH PRESS:
45's x 4
60's x 5
60's x 8!
60's x 5 + [8-second negative on final rep]
Haven't done these for almost a year. We'll see how they progress.

CHINUPS:
BW x 5
BW x 4
*took a slash*
BW x 2.75 (Damn, reduced weight didn't help at all...)
Negatives: 2
WG Pullup Negatives: 3

I suck at pullups. And chinups. That's all there is to say. Although I did actually feel these a bit in my lats. However, this isn't enough reps to really make me grow, I don't think. I might switch these to parallel BB rows again. Or maybe DB rows.

Diet's been pretty good, I should hit the 5k mark by the end of dinner. All whole-food, too, apart from a bit of non-weight gainer protein.

I was going to go for a bike ride today too, but it's a bit late. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. Weather's cooling off a bit.

TTT
09-25-2005, 06:15 PM
Yeah, but was that before you got into weight training?
I didn't progress much on them over the course of about 6 months' worth of training...
I think the problem stems more from my body proportions than from just weak lats. I have long legs, etc. which means I have a disproportionate amount of weight to lift. I guess. Anyway, rows have made them grow more than chins or pullups have, so I think I'll stick to those for awhile.
Oh, and thanks :D

Nice moves on the DB Benching, man! So you hurt your back doing shoulder presses without anything supporting your back? Hmmm, I do pressing without back support and it creates a lot of tension in my lumbar. Perhaps I should take a leaf from your book and be careful about this. Tell me more about how this happened?

ryuage
09-26-2005, 03:07 PM
you and me have the same problem, I cant do pullups to save my life.

TTT
09-26-2005, 06:28 PM
Coke: I certainly hope so! Hehe thanks man.

Kiaran: Thanks dude. Yeah, last time I did a dropset on DB overheads, and in one of the final reps, I got a weird sort of nerve-pain type thing somewhere in my middle back - I don't know whether it was a muscle which was starting to pull, or a pinched nerve, or what, but I didn't push it. It was fine, it didn't even hurt afterwards. I'm lucky, I seem to be able to tell exactly when something's going to give, I guess. Anyway, it happened when I was nearing the end of my endurance, and so I guess I was compensating for my weakened shoulders by arching my back more to try to force the DB's up. So, don't do that :D

Ryuage: Yeah man, I seem to have had the problem for a very long time... they just don't seem to improve, even though I've actually gotten a lot wider since I started. I guess putting on about 35-40lbs doesn't help, either. Unless it's all in your lats....

Today was pretty good at work, opening in the morning was flat-out, we had a ****load of stock to sort out, plus all the usual stuff. Then we had the usual assortment of customers, including one rude lady who, after having a phone battery sized up, and talking rudely to us the whole time, refused to pay $17.99 after I'd opened the pack. Bitch. Also had a guy who returned a microwave he'd already gotten an exchange for (which was cheaper), and a toaster, and wanted the full amount of the original refunded to him, giving him a $10 profit "for his time."
However, I sold an almost- $200 stereo, and a $240 voice recorder today, so I'm happy. Even though I won't see any of that money.

Another workout tomorrow....
Going to Costco tonight to pick up some whey. I might give ALN a try next time, but I need some NOW. :)

Ok today was a pretty good day at work, although it had some bad bits too. Sold a $400 digital camera, and a $400 car LCD DVD player screen, and almost sold another of the same camera. Along with a whole bunch of lesser items. However, the ****ing receipt printer on one side is ****ed. It keeps jamming. Unfortunately, it did this while printing out the invoice for the LCD screen, and also for the next people in line waiting for some cellphone recharge numbers (which aren't refundable, so the chewed-up receipts mean major **** on our part)... Ultimately, I ended up (for some reason) being the only person in the department at that time. And despite two calls to customer service and for supervisors, no one showed up for about 5-10 mins. So, that bit was pretty exciting. And of course, while all this was going on, there was a convenient phone call to take which involved checking up on stock, too. Which, I guess, is better than some of the calls I took today. Somehow it's hard to keep the smile in your voice when you've already answered 13 calls that day asking how to transfer files from a digital camera to a computer, or how to charge "the battery in my camera - you know, it's a Canon..." No, I don't know.
The most interesting person we had in today was a guy who left after having a discussion about his dysfunctional cordless phone ending up in a landfill like so many other dysfunctional cordless phones (yes, dysfunctional is an appropriate word here). He insisted that if we couldn't recycle his phone, instead of binning it, he wouldn't buy anything from the company. After informing him that it would probably cost as much (if not more) energy and resources to recycle his phone as it would to manufacture a new one, he replied "well, you telling me that just confirms what I was saying - if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the cause." Right. Well, you pay for my course on recycling and landfill usage, and I'll see what I can do, buddy.
He does have a fair point, but arguing with floor staff earning $9 or $10 an hour is like trying to convince Stephen Hawking to enter the Tour de France.

Yep, it sure can... yesterday was a pretty good day too. A 60-year-old lady stole a single roll of film. Nice one lady. Bet that one saved the ole piggy bank, eh?
What was really odd was that the lady standing behind her, who informed me that she saw the other lady putting it in her pocket, got really upset about it all and started complaining to the manager that I, and the other staff around, didn't do anything to stop it.

Session later today. Haven't been keeping up the calories. Christ I'm skinny. I lose fat in two days, even if I stuff myself to a slightly lesser degree than I have to to gain.

Went and saw the movie "The Duelist" last night, which was an International Film Fest movie. It was pretty good. Afterwards, the director came up on the stage and people could ask him questions, which was cool. It's always refreshing to watch a non-hollywood movie.

Uber-exciting stuff. Maybe I should try doing something I've never done before, just to make things interesting.

Okay, heading to the gym now.
I've been debating about whether to fork out almost $50 for a pair of earphones. They're the sealed earplug-type ones. I think the sound quality would be substantially better than the Apple ones I'm using, plus they should block out the droning of the top-20 stuff being played in the gym, and the sound of curl jockeys yapping on their cellphones. And other assorted noises outside of the gym. But damn, that's a lot of money for two little bits of plastic... even though they're on the cheap end of the higher-end earphones.
Anyway, I'm off.

I say anything that has the ability to filter the noise-pollution (such as the dreaded top 20 countdown) that goes on in the majority of gyms is a must.

 to the earphones.

DAY ONE
================================================================

STIFFIES:
45x5
95x6
135x3
155x1
185x8!!
185x6
185x8!!
Decided to bump things up a bit. Had to switch to mixed grip on the last set. Don't know why. Bit disappointed with grip strength at the moment, but I might start training it.

WIDE SQUATS (Almost ATF):
95x5
95x3
135x1
155x3
175x3!
175x3!
135x7
Chucked some more weight on (more than I've done before) to see how it went. I was pretty happy with the results. I blame diet.

SEATED CALF RAISE:
45x7
90x6
135x8
160x6!
135x10!
Again, more weight. God damn, I love this sport.

Did absolutely nothing today, except sorting out my medical insurance. I sent away for it weeks ago, and they sent a letter back stating that they require a copy of my birth certificate, WHICH THEY FAIL TO MENTION ON THE FORM. Slackers. So, I have to spend another $130 on an extra month's travel insurance so I don't end up bankrupting myself or my family if I have an accident here. Which kind of pisses me off, because that $130 could have bought, say, four tubs of whey. :D

Anyway, other than that, I'm pretty relaxed and happy. Probably going to a party tonight, which should be fun.

The party was interesting, although we didn't really know many people there, so it was kind of weird.

Went out for more drinks tonight :)

Also, went for another 3-hour bikeride. That was cool. Legs were still sore from yesterday, but I thought a bit of good ol' fashioned hard cycling would do them good. Got off the bike at the end, and I could hardly walk :D We usually take a break about an hour in, though.
If I don't feel too crappy tomorrow (today)? I might do a chest/shoulders/upper back workout.

Bought the earphones, they're these ones (from another source):
http://www.cosmo.com/cgi-bin/afp/afp.cgi?item_id=B000095SB6&search_type=AsinSearch&locale=us

A few reviews say the cables are going to wither on me in 3 months or less. Others say they're crap, and yet others say they're good.
All I can say is, the sound quality is fricking amazing. I should have gotten better earphones years ago. They're not even broken in yet, and they sound awesome. I can hear stuff (even in 128kbps MP3's) that I couldn't hear at all with the standard ipod earphones. It's like listening to a good stereo set, compared to a $10 portable radio.

Working tomorrow at 7:30am. Got to get some sleep.
Will probably do shoulders/chest/back tomorrow. Was supposed to do them today, but I have an oddly sore muscle in my back. In this picture, http://exrx.net/Muscles/ErectorSpinae.html
it's where the number 2 or 3 are, roughly halfway up. But it's not pulled or anything, just an odd, dull ache. Could be from being hunched over on the bike for 3 hours yesterday :D

Off to sleep.

Jesus, I just measured my blood pressure with my grandma's meter, and it came out to an average (over two measurements) of something like 140/60. WTF is going on there? It would appear I have the systolic pressure of a 50-year-old, with ridiculously-low diastolic. Could be the meter. Could be the way I had the cuff on. Could be exogenous factors. Could be that I'm a freak.

DAY 2
================================================================

DB SHOULDER PRESS:
15's x 9
25's x 6
40's x 2
55's x 3
55's x 3
45's x 8
45's x 6
Not enough kai.
Thinking of trying an alternative exercise as a replacement for these, as they don't isolate the shoulder quite as much as I'd like. I don't want a total isolation movement, just something a bit more delt-specific. Maybe Arnolds, or something.

DB FLAT BENCH:
35's x 6
65's x 6
65's x 4
55's x 8.5
I'm getting frustrated not knowing how much I'm actually using with these dumbells. They're not marked, and it annoys me. I'm guessing the bar is somewhere around 5lbs. Anyway, these could be anywhere around 5-10lbs out, on either side of the weights listed. At least I'm consistently using the same ones. I think.

PARALLEL BB ROWS:
45x8
95x5
135x7
135x8!
135x6.5

HAMMER CURLS (for fun):
20's x 9
25's x 7
Oh man these sucked.

Towards the end of the workout, the weight room smelled like someone had filled their pants. Pretty disgusting.

I always feel like telling people who look like they don't know what they're doing about WBB. There was one guy there today doing DB curls, and he had about 45lb dumbells in each hand, and he could lift them about 5 centimetres each rep. So he did about 10 five-centimetre reps on each arm, then rested. Then repeated. I never do end up telling anyone, though, because of the reaction I've gotten from people I know when I tell them about WBB. So I don't bother telling people (or making it obvious that I post on here, even though I didn't before, either)... saves the trouble. But it sure could help a lot of people.

Yesterday was a rather interesting day at work. Almost sold a $300 Mp3 player, but they were out of stock. Then, half an hour later, a guy comes in returning one of the exact same players, with nothing wrong with it. Package wasn't even opened. God damned order of events....
Later on, a lady came into the store, and wanted me to help her transfer her pictures from her digital camera to her laptop. So I helped her do just that. During the course of my showing her how to do this, she made repeated comments to the effect of "you're hired!" and "what do you do in your time off work?" and "seriously, myself and some of my friends would be interested, if you want a paid job sitting down with people and tutoring them on basic computer skills. If you want to give me your number..." All the while, she was showing me pictures of herself on a boat somewhere. And 'accidentally' brushing her hands or arm up against mine. She was probably in her late 30's, but she was actually in pretty good shape. Then she said, "You see, I can make movies, but I can't do this stuff" (pointing to the computer and camera). Maybe she was trying to hire me for a porn film or something. Who knows. Anyway, it was a pretty interesting experience, and snapped me out of my daze of semi-consciousness induced by a chronic lack of sleep - at least for a few minutes.

I'm assuming these are ghetto-style; the bar was just wedged into a corner, and I used a narrow-grip handle from the cable machine as a grip.
I really like these, I think I'll incorporate them.

Today at work, I had a variety of interesting and challenging customers.
One lady bought a $30 cellphone airtime top-up, and despite the fact that I told her that the high-priced top up may or may not mean that the credit lasted for longer, she claimed I said it DID, after the fact. The top-ups are non-refundable....
I sold a camera to one guy, who apparently comes in and wastes time frequently. He spent about half an hour looking at the lens of this demonstrator camera with a magnifying glass. There was one minute 'scrape' (not even a scratch) that didn't even go through the optical coating, let alone the lens. There were some minor scratches on the LCD. He spouted on about how "I always take care of my stuff - I've had digital cameras for YEARS without a SINGLE MARK on them - and look at this!! People should take better care of their stuff!" I explained to him that since it was a demo camera, it was taken into and out of the display case a lot, and lots of people had held it. It didn't make a difference. The funniest bit was when he paid in cash, and sort of 'flicked' each bill as it came out of his wallet and put it onto the counter deliberately... and he goes, "Mmm, Crisp!"
Then we had a guy who came in looking at stereos with his handicapped friend, who let loose the most awful gas I've smelt in awhile. In addition, I don't know whether the handicapped man's single-syllable vocabulary of "ugh" was really quite enough to base the decision of whether or not to buy a stereo on.
Then there was a lady who came in with a phone which she claimed had a display problem. I plugged it in, and it worked fine. She wanted a refund, plus extra money to match a current, equivalent phone. Eventually she got it because it actually was faulty and started to play up, but by this time she was pretty irate.
Another lady came in and wanted us to refund the digital camera and 1GB memory card she'd bought, AND get pictures off the memory card and print them for her, all while she was going to "be over in that department over there, looking at computers." I tried to explain that it would be better for her to wait while I refunded the camera, then got the prints done, then refunded the card so as not to get it mixed up with our store stock, but she also got pretty miffed.
I had to fight back some pretty inappropriate (appropriate?) words today. Multiple times :D

Forgot to mention the dude in the gym yesterday - he came up to me as I was resting between sets on the leg press, and goes "you're going to run out of room on that thing!" - pointing at the weight pegs :evillaugh
The leg press machine here isn't built for really strong people. I can't see someone loading up more than 8pps on this thing. Maybe not even 7pps. And it doesn't have a central peg under the sled either. But that's ok, I'm nowhere near that yet :)

Just started taking ETS today. Thought I might as well try something which had the potential to help me sleep better. If this works, it'll be like buying better health/life for the price of a cellphone or phoneline rental each month. That'd be a pretty sweet deal. I'll document any noticeable effects in here. Hey, even if it doesn't help with sleep, it should (hopefully) improve my training...

Crippy, Mase, Coke and Kiaran: Thanks people. I'll post in your journals when I get some spare time :) Work is pretty flat-out at the moment. This morning there was literally a mountain of stock to put away, and a thick wad of signs to put up.

I hope so :)

Just got back from a concert by The Roots. It was pretty good, although it was very ad-lib and sort of way-out. There was enough pot smoke in the air to stone an army. It's now 2:15am, and I have to work at 11:30. Originally, the show was going to be at 7:30, but that one was cancelled, so we ended up going to the 11:30 one. It was worth it, anyway. Today's going to be an interesting day at work, though.

TTT
11-11-2005, 02:45 AM
Work was pretty decent, considering the sleep. It was cruisy. Not too many customers.

Tonight I went out again to a live band thing at this pub, and lo and behold, a girl I'd never met before but who knew my sister's friend, seemed to be very interested in me. Crazy how this **** works. You have absolutely no one, and then BAM. Five of them.
Anyway, I got her email address, although I guess she'll just be a friend, because I'm already kind of (I think?) in some kind of weird transitory relationship with my friend from Japan, who's coming here in a month and a half, although she'll only be here for a week.
Wow. That is ****ed up. But that's life.

Haven't worked out in a few days. Took a bit of a break to fully recover. The ETS should have kicked in by now, if it's going to work, so I figured that fully resting up would make this more of a valid experiment. We'll see how the DOMS go in the next few days.
The benches at work are made for dwarfs. I get a sore back bending over all day to use the tills :( Oh well, I could be working in one of those slave diamond mines, or a brothel, or something... so I can't complain, really.

I remember I had this game called Diamond Mine for my Franklin PC back in the day. It'd have a maze type thing, and you were a 5 pixel mining cart. You'd go around picking up diamonds and each diamond would stick on the tail of an ever growing tail of diamonds that you had to drag back to the start of the maze, and there would be these monsters, or thieves, or ninjas, or other trucks driven by non-union scabs that would steal your diamonds. It was kickass when I was 13. I want to break that thing open again and see if it still starts.

Today was a corker of a day at work. Got called in early, so I had 1/2 an hour less sleep than I anticipated. Came to around 5 hours. Worked ****ing hard for the entire 1.5 hours before the store opened. Lifting microwaves and dishwashers and boxes of tapes and phones etc. and putting stock away/tidying the place up. Shirt was half wet by the time I was finished, and I don't sweat easily. There was not one thing I could have done more efficiently. Then the manager comes up to me at opening and gives me a lecture on how I should have just chucked stuff in the lockup, or gotten someone else to help, while I faced the department more before we opened. Then, later in the day, the department manager tells me she'd heard I had a 'bad opening' from the manager ("already.") **** that. There wasn't even enough space to chuck more stuff in the goddamned lockup.
Tomorrow will be a good day. I'll make it a ****ing good day, whether it wants to be one or not.

All in all, a ****house workout. But it can only get better. As a small bonus of having been sick, I think I dropped around 2-3% bodyfat. An 'un-managed cut,' if you will.

This session was actually not half bad... I think I must have lost more muscle in my legs than in my arms/top half, for some reason.
Also, I watched "Enter The Dragon" beforehand, which pumped me up.

Hehe, thanks.
I skipped them because I did the chins, and there was (strangely enough) another couple of guys doing T-bars at the time. Most of the people at my gym are either (a) old ladies; (b) curl jockeys, or (c) treadmill-heads.

Quite a few good-looking women in there today, though.

I was most definitely paying attention to the women. It'd be rude not to.

Yeah, Bruce Lee was pretty cool. Some of the lines in that movie are hilarious though - a lot of it was wayyyy over-done. Hehe, thanks man... I try. It was swift, but I'm trying out something different to the majority of the people on this site doing a 5x5 routine - I'm trying to just stick to a few sets of heavy compounds each session. It'll be interesting to see which works better for me. I still need to build up more of a sort of 'foundation' of mass, before I start worrying out bringing up parts.

Saw something pretty amusing 5 minutes ago. A tow truck was towing this van along the street, and then the van's alarm starting going off, so it was blaring its horn right into the back of the truck. Driver must have been pissed.

Got called in to work in photofinishing yesterday. Man, what a job. Computer system's confusing (at least, it was to me... and I consider myself reasonably proficient with computers), and people are always asking for stuff which doesn't have its price listed anywhere to be seen. To top it off, I think the head of the department likes me, but that could be disastrous if anything happened there...

Alrighty, I'm off to the gym in about 20 mins. Deadlifting will be fun. It'll be interesting to see just how much I need to catch up.

Today was a pretty interesting day at work. The tills crashed, we had customers waiting for up to an hour to activate new cellphones because one of the companies doesn't do online activations anymore and has lots of weird rebate thingies, and we have a staff shortage. Which is kind of annoying, because we shouldn't.
Anyway, I (once again) had to hold back the rage. Some customers were really good about it, and could see we were working as fast as possible, and others just turned into ******s. Tomorrow's going to be reeeaaaaal fun. :)
Hopefully I'll be able to vent some of my frustrations on the weights, if I actually manage to make it into the gym afterwards. Maybe I'll be in jail.

Well, yesterday when I was at work, I ended up spending half of my time in PHOTOS. Yes, Photos. It would appear that they knew that beforehand, and put me in there anyway, without telling me that. I seriously don't think I'd still be at that job, if I'd taken a job in photos instead of the department I'm in. All the while, my coworker was making double-entendres at me. And I was dead tired. She's cool, but I really don't need something like that to be happening while I'm trying to concentrate as someone brings up 14 photos which need to be scanned and printed, one at a time, using a machine I'm not familiar with, while 5 people are waiting impatiently in line, and I'm sort of floating in and out of a state somewhere between narcolepsy, starvation, and apathy.
Last night, I went to the girl's house again, and we watched some TV, had some champagne, and then things got kind of cuddly. And she kissed me on the way out the door. I got 5 hours' sleep this morning.

My lack of understanding of women is complete.

Work was fun. Missed a family dinner and skiing trip because work couldn't re-schedule me, despite the fact I've done quite a few call-in shifts for them lately. I can't understand their staffing strategy.

As I walked to work, I saw an old lady crying on the sidewalk outside a medical clinic.

Hopefully I'll get a workout in tomorrow morning, and then I have to get a Christmas present for my sister.

Peace out.

Got this session in today. I really really need more consistency in my training, it's been ages since my last session and the lack of progress is showing it. I did feel kind of crappy during this session though, which I attribute to still recovering from the chronic sleep deprivation, and ridiculously-bad diet. I need about an extra 2000 calories a day.

Sounds like a smart way to go.

I got hit on all morning, and some of the afternoon, at work. By my coworker. Why is it that as soon as you start seeing someone, 84 gajillion other people start trying to pick you up? And then when you're single, no one wants to know you. It's ****ing ridiculous. Maybe it's just the people here. The girls in New Zealand must be more conservative or something. I don't think I'm going to get much sleep tonight either. My brain's going to be working in 60th gear again, trying to figure out what I should do about the situation I'm in with my girlfriend (?) and my friend from Japan.

Work wasn't as bad as I was led to believe it would be. We never got the thronging hordes of belligerent, impatient customers I thought we would. Although the stress did show up in one guy I phoned at another store to check stock, who politely informed me that the item I was searching for ("WHAT? SAY IT AGAIN." "NO, WE DON'T HAVE ANY OF THOSE." "SIGH." "NO!!" "BYE") was out of stock. I'm beyond caring whether people are getting all pissed, anyway. I don't get paid enough to care. Life is more important.
