View Full Version : Eating a lot more on gym days when bulking?

I've just started to bulk and I'm currently eating around 3000 calories a day (I only weigh 140 pounds, and my maintenence is 2600ish). However I'm worried about gaining fat, so I was wondering whether it might be better to drop down to around ~2800 calories on non-gym days, and ~3200 on days where I am working out. Would this kind of thing be better for bulking, or do I need to eat a lot even on non-workout days in order to recover and grow?

as long as your above maintenance you'll be fine
just be sure to monitor your weight and log it as frequently and consistently as possible

I always eat big on bulk. But to minimize the fat gain, I try to do some sort of cardio for about a half hour on off days. I am fairly new to lifting but it seems to help me.

Yes, eating more on work out days and slightly less on rest days makes good sense to me.

at ONLY 140 lbs, i wouldnt be TOO worried about eating less. It seems like you have a high metabolism anyway
