I saw an interview with Agassis strength trainer. He has been working with Agassi for 12 years. He said Agassi can bench 310lbs@161lbs. Now that is impressive. The guy is a true athlete. Props to Andre.

Is he planning on doing it in a meet?

lol if that is true than it is quite impressive.

that is pretty crazy...if true...but not that it really matters for him...lifting is just a sidenote...

ill give it up for him.. for an old guy he can still move and some pretty nice power..

And tiger woods can do 300+
They might be able to do the lifts, but as of now its only rumours until done in a meet.

I dont think that we are gonna see agassi or woods in a PL meet soon, but that would be cool, a celeb PL contest

so adam do you consider it rumors for everyone unless they do so in a meet? just a Q cause ive never done a meet and dont plan on it anytime soon but i know my #s arent rumors...

01-19-2005, 10:22 PM
I would have to say yes then.
I can guess that it is true, but until its official, its unofficial;)

01-19-2005, 10:24 PM
haha yeah that makes sense i guess... so once i get my lifts to a respectable # i will do a meet.. ok one more Q do you get like a card or a plaque with the #'s you hit.. and does it come wallet sized lol

01-19-2005, 10:29 PM
if you break records you sometimes get a plaque. Always a certificate for records though.
I've never seen wallet size ones though;)

That is such an excellent idea that its not funny. It could raise money for tsunamis or something. It would make a fortune!

As much as i love Andre Agassi I can't really see him pushing 310. But i hope its true :)

A true athlete like Agassi I wouldn't put it past him at all. Same goes for Woods.

01-20-2005, 11:06 AM
its a long way off world record levels so it can be true.

plus what some athletes fail to mention is that they do these lifts on the smith machine or not go all the way down the to chest etc.

agassi can push 310. i've seen him bench 325. i've worked at saddlebrooke academy in boca raton, fl for the past 3 summers. he was training there 2 years ago before the open, and i saw him in the weight room numerous times. he's definitely an incredible athlete who's in awesome shape for a guy his age, hell any age. he does some sick endurance training.

but back to the topic, yes he can bench 310. you can choose to take my word for it or not. is he going to do it in a meet? don't hold your breath, i'm sure he could care less if its "official".

What a tennis player's trainer says the tennis player can bench has nothing to do with Powerlifting or Olympic lifting.
