Now that I went through all this trouble I was hoping that you guys could tell me what all I need to improve on and what my weak parts are. Also, how much weight should I cut in order to look decent? And what bf% I should shoot for? I need to get ready for spring break. Thanks for all comments.

The pics are together with the old one on the left and the new one on the right.

not a bad bulk...don't see much fat gain at all..god luck getting cut

01-21-2005, 11:14 PM
thanks, I wanted to go longer but don't have the time. How much should I loose before spring break to look decent? And what bf% should I be at before my next bulk?

01-22-2005, 06:21 AM
You weigh 224 now? How tall are you?

01-22-2005, 06:38 AM
nice work. keep at it

01-22-2005, 08:47 AM
so basically you are saying you gained 20 lbs of lean mass in 1 month?

01-22-2005, 10:48 AM
I just used the scale both times and that is what it said, so yeah I gained 20 lbs lean mass in a month according to that. I'm 6'5.5" by the way. How much should I try to loose to look good at spring break?

01-22-2005, 10:56 AM
must have those special genes that noone else has, but I wouldnt be trying to lose anything.... if anything id be working on putting more mass on that frame

01-22-2005, 12:55 PM
yea man i dont know why you ended your bulk unless you were on a cycle?

01-22-2005, 01:10 PM
No I wasn't on a cycle I've never done steroids or anything. I stopped bulking because I wanted to loose fat for the beach, but I don't know how much to loose. And what do you mean by special genes Ryan? Do you think I'm lying or something?

01-22-2005, 01:11 PM
It's a compliment- 20 lbs of lbm in a month is ridiculously impressive. Most people are happy with that sort of gain in a year.

Or he could think you're lying, who knows. ^_^

01-22-2005, 01:13 PM
Well I am relatively new, so I'm sure my gains will slow down after I have been at it awhile.

01-22-2005, 01:13 PM
I want to do a little cutting before spring break, do you think it would be possible to get my bf % low enough to see my abs? Then go on a monster bulk after?

01-22-2005, 05:10 PM
You should bulk, bulk and bulk some more. I don't see why a cut would be in order looking at your pics.

01-22-2005, 06:13 PM
I'm sorry but you didn't gain 20 lbs of lean body mass in a month without a cycle. Your little body fat thingy is wrong.

01-22-2005, 06:25 PM
If you go on a cut and don't do it right, you might end up at the beach looking like the guy who's just begging to have sand kicked in his face. I'd keep bulking up and not worry about cutting. You hardly gained any fat according to your posting. Beef up some more.

It's so weird.. it's almost impossible to imagine someone gaining 20 lbs of LBM in a month.. even assuming you did REALLY well and somehow gained 7-8 lbs of LBM in one month, which is conceivable for a beginner, but still very, very impressive, you certainly didn't put on 16-17 lbs of pure fat between those pics. The dat difference looks like 5 lbs, top.

Did you use the same scale both times? Was it exposed to extreme climate or environmental variables? Has it shown itself to be consistent in the past? What meal(s) did you eat directly prior to each weigh in?

Even with little pound variables here and there, you don't look like your body composition changed that much in that amount of time.

01-22-2005, 08:28 PM
i agree with Organ, looks more like a 5lb gain than a 20. you sure you measured it right?

01-22-2005, 08:37 PM
Yes I weighed myself on a digital scale both times, in the evening at around 7 oclock. The first one was at the end of my cut and I probably didnt have much food in me. The second weighin was at the end of my bulk and I was probably full. But I did gain 24 lbs I'm not joking you.

01-22-2005, 08:50 PM
I want to see update pictures in a year. You are blessed, mang.

01-22-2005, 08:51 PM
I would say that 20+ lbs is entirely possible for someone who is relatively new and who is that tall. It's not that big a gain realtive to his initial body weight, really. You must have gone broke trying to feed yourself, though, bro!

I do actually see some increased definition in some areas, notably your delts and tri's. I would say your delts, lats, chest, and legs need the most work. Work those lats and delts to get that nice V shape going and you'll be set. And do some squats to get those legs up to par. Nice work so far, though!

Good to see another 6'5"er on here.
Good luck with everything. Personally, I agree with everyone here, I think you should keep bulking. I suffer from the same skinny problem :)

To be honest, I do see a bit of a difference in pics but nothing much. I'm sure it's just from lighting anyways. 1 month progress is very hard to see, try 3-6 months apart atleast.

Ok thanks guys I will keep bulking but maybe try to keep it at 1-2 lbs per week gained instead. I'll keep eating right and see where that takes me. Is there anything I should do to get ready for spring break instead of cutting so much? Is there anything I can do about my abs?

Only thing you can do with your abs is build them up while you continue to bulk. Then when it comes time to cut they'll look better.

So should I switch over to a 3-day a week plan instead of 5 days a week and hitting everything twice? That way I could add cardio in once or twice since i will have 2 off days.

01-23-2005, 01:37 PM
dont worry so much about looking good for spring break, worry about looking good for yourself...not to impress other people

01-23-2005, 02:45 PM
I want to look good for myself, then I will be more confident when I go.

01-23-2005, 02:48 PM
You don't have much fat to lose. I mean, if you want to get absolutely shredded, i.e. ~6% bodyfat, then you have some serious dieting to do.

As it is, to catch a look with your shirt off, not very much at all. Probably less than 20 lbs of fat.

01-23-2005, 03:23 PM
So 205 lbs would be a good goal?

01-23-2005, 07:43 PM
no..I would shoot for 200..depends how ripped you want to be

01-23-2005, 07:44 PM
actually..I meant to say 205 is a good goal for getting in good shape...if you want to get shredded you will have to lose more weight...girls are going to go for the shredded look..it is all up to you..good luck

ok any tips to preserve muscle mass and keep it mainly fat? last time I think I lost too much muscle. I will follow a good diet of 6 or so small meals a day, but how much weight training/cardio should i do?
