Hello, a buddy let me borrow a bodybuilding book called,"Sliced", and it's great so far, although I think it was written in the early 90's.
The book really went into detail about branch-chained aminos and free-form aminos, but I don't hear of anyone really taking these anymore. Are people mostly just using protein shakes nowadays to help build mass?

yes, i believe most people use a protein powder.

Taking aminos seperately is a waste of time and money, in my opinion (combinations of aminos make protein, so why not just consume protein??).

A protein shake alone won't help build mass, either. It's the total number of calories consumed that is important. And I personally feel that a top sirloin steak is 1000 times better than any protein supplement on the market.

Actually, I still use them when I am precontest dieting.

Sliced is a good book although you are correct it was written in late 80's so contest dieting has come a long way since then.
