ok

Protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram...

Fat has 9 calories per gram...

So you have

Protein 300 grams / 1200 calories
Carbs 400 grams / 1600 calories
fat 32 grams / 288 calories

So you are consuming a total of 3088 calories

Then you need to work out your percentages....

you do that by the following sum :

proportion of calories divided by total calories x 100

i.e

PROTEIN = 1200 / 3088 * 100 = 38.86 %
CARBS = 1600 / 3088 * 100 = 51.81 %
FAT = 288 / 3088 * 100 = 9.32 %

It adds up to 99.9 % (ok so I am 0.1 out because I didnlt round off properly !!)

When you do this just make sure to convert grams into calories first as fat holds more calories per gram and it would not be an even calculation if you just did it in grams..

Hope that helps..

300 gram of protein = 300*4 (1200)
400 gram of carb = 400*4 (1600)
32 gram of fat = 32*9 (288)

1200
1600
288
-------
3088 Cal total

1200/total cal = 39%
1600/total cal = 52%
288/total cal = 9%

For a breakdown of
Pro = 39%
Carb = 52%
fat = 9%

All of course equalling 100% total, or damn near when all figuring is done...

Hope that helps...
