I have these circular sores on my arm and one on my stomache and face. Does this mean I have poor hygiene? I certainly think I am a clean person, I don't know whats going on. How can I treat this?

moved this to general health....
well my official advice is to go see your doctor so that they can give you some sort of creeam to clear that up. You might be able to get a less potent one at your drugstore. and no..it doesn't necessarily mean you are dirty. Perhaps you've come in contact with someone that had it and the infection transferred, or you might have caught it by touching something that had it on there. Your best bet is to keep as clean and dry as possible though, because if i'm not mistaken it's a fungus and thrives in a warm humid environment.

Try Tea Tree Oil (melaleuca alternifolia). (http://www.teatree.co.uk/) It's a powerful antifungal and antibiotic. You can get it in most health and herbal shops. The Vitamin Shoppe carries it.
[edited in] Btw, Tryska is correct... it's a fungus of the Tinea family, related to jock itch and athlete's foot. They all thrive in warm dark, moist environments. They are pretty easily spread.

Ring worm is a very contagous fugus infectous. I remeber last year my friend told me that one kid gave like a third of the wrestling team ring worm. If that tea tree oil doen't help go see your doc.

Never used tea tree oil for a fungal infection. Any of the athlete's foot treatments over the counter will work. I would use any of them OTHER than Desenex. My personal opinion on the herbal treatment versus the OTC treatment: they both contain chemicals. Just because the tea tree oil is "organic" doesn't mean it doesn't have the potential for side effects, which BTW is extremely low for the commercial antifungal treatments.

It's not big deal, it goes away easy, don't pick at the sores and you won't have any scarring.
use lamsil cream and tablet.
lamsil contains terbinafine hydrocholride
It take a while to go away and just keep it covered while trianing.
go to the doctor thats what they should prescibe. well that what i got from it.

Not! It does not go away easy. It's common among wrestlers/grapplers. Some ***** from NY came for a fight at our club and wiped out half our dojo w/ ringworm. That was back in the summer and we're still dealing w/ it. I now have one little patch on my leg and I don't even grapple! It's very easily transferred and a bytch to get rid of.
Make sure you don't stratch! Stratching will make it spread everywhere. I'm lucky, we're always on the lookout for ringworm and I caught it in time to isolate it, but if you don't know what it is, it spreads fast. Any anti-fungal cream will work. Keep it taped up when training.
Its not that contanoius if kept well covered and on cream and tablets to stop it.
I wrap it well with bandages -though its on my forearm so quite easy to do. I use a plastic bandage so sweat can't get through. and wear clothes over the top of it.
though some before at the dojo passed it on before i was there, but his was ozzing puss.
So it depends on the severity of it i suppose.
If its on the head hard to wrap up.
but it can last for ages i have had mine since the summer. it a pain as i have to wear a plaster for work as i work in the food industry. so i look stupid when popping to the shops with a blue bandage on my arm.

It is contagious!! In wrestling tourneys ur not allowed to wretle if you have it. The ref doesn't say: o u can wrestle if u put some anti-fungal cream on!! BTW the anti-fungal cream wreslters use is to prevent receiving the fungus, not spread it.

Growing up on a farm I ended up getting ring worm a few times from actually trying to treat the animals. Yes it's very easy to catch from skin to skin contact. Follow the others advise DON'T SCRATCH OT ITCH AT IT. The best solution I have found over the years is good old 7% iodine. Just a warning it will sting like a bitch, but it works, us a q-tip to apply it. If your ring worm is visible like arms you might not want to use the iodine because it will leave orange blothes on you,in that case you might want to see a DR for a cream or lotion.

bleach...
well off the doc on tuesday to see if my ring worm is still active after two months of this cream.
does it take a while for the mark to leave my skin after subsiding? as the fungus may be dead but i will still have a ring?
