when do u work out...and im guessin your on a bulk....but a good protein shake might do it although be careful about it being too close to working out...some people take a gatorade to give them some energy...if in the morning u could have some oatmeal and fruit etc....many answers...
To be honest, I don't really notice any energy differences at all regardless of what I eat. It's more a matter of what time of day it is. That is if I go in the morning, I'm going to have no energy. If I go any other time, it really doesn't matter. I could have eaten 200 cals or 2000 cals before I go, it's all the same.
I do, however, sip on Gatorade throughout the workout.

You want protein and carbs pre-workout. If I have time to eat I'll have some old fashioned oatmeal and eggs. If I need something quick I have a shake consisting of dextrose and whey protein.

a cup of coffee 15 mins before your workout.
I usually go with Powerbar bites. Pretty good stuff.

Sometimes I have a shake with oats, a banana and some whey. Take it about an hour before working out.

Here's an article (http://askmen.com/sports/fitness_top_ten/24_fitness_list.html) that lists the Top 10 foods to eat prior to training. Thought this might help. :)

Some interesting suggestions in that article.
Recently I've taken to eating an apple as my preworkout "meal".

Recently after reading up on it some i've altered my Pre-WO to a good snack with wheatbread peanut butter around 2hrs prior to WO, a banana + starting sipping at a carb drink (cranberry for me) 30mins prior to working out and continuing to drink it thought out and PWO(approx 60-80g carbs + 600ml water total)......Followed by a Shake with L-Glute PWO and a "full" meal around 30mins-1hr later.
I've only been doing this for 1 week now, but seems to be making a differance in my energy levels.... Not sure if its a psychological thing though, so another week or 2 should tell me i hope.
Oh i workout around 7-8pm btw, so not sure if this would be practical for those who do morning workouts..or if it would even work for others.
For me I take 2 scoops of weight gainer, and a banana. During workouts 355mL of gatorade. And post workout another 2 scoops of weight gainer. I have my first shake an hour before and the banana closer within. Lately I have felt very energized during workouts.
