I need to round off this diet I've been on, and the Atkins that I've been on doesn't seem to be helping. I lost about 55 pounds on it, but can't seem to lose the rest. I guess I have two questions:
What are people's thoughts about Atkins?
and
If I switch to something else, what would be the best diet route to take?
When I finish losing my weight (about 15 pounds), I want to try and start bulking up a bit. Not too much, just some so I'm not so scraggly in my arms, etc... I'm currently 5'10" and 184-188. Thanks for your help!

What are people's thoughts about Atkins?
to be blunt, it's garbage

a healthy balanced diet where you eat protein, fat and carbs
most likely Atkins has killed your metabolism, and by dropping so much weight your body now requires less cals and you will need to eat less to continue losing
best advice:
take 2-3 weeks off and eat at maintenance to refresh your metabolism and then go on a balanced diet where you track your cals
cut back a few hundred cals a week until the weight starts to come off

I did a search and didn't find a whole lot. That's why I posted this. I'll try again though.

Ok, that makes sense. I'll just follow the "what to eat" guidelines as far as chicken, turkey, whole wheat bread, etc... Is there another place other than the top stickys to read about what to eat?

the stickys are great..
its not that tough to figure out what to eat..
its all pretty basic..
just eat the high protein stuff.. the good fats.. high fiber stuff

eating at maintenance means eating the same # of cals you burn
burn 3500 eat 3500 and maintain weight
abowang gives a good idea of how to do that if you don't know the # of cals
