455= :strong:

Impressive as always. But especially with depletion. Damn
most definently :)

Pup
02-10-2006, 06:50 AM
Midee1...i hit the 455 before the depletion workouts started, Bill was looking a few weeks back...can't take credit for that number during a depletion workout.

Mase...the equalizer though is that you pull way more poon than me, so you win

Sylvia...next time i max on squats i'll have 5 plates :)

Mik
02-10-2006, 07:06 AM
5 plates on squats eh?

You clearly don't need my encouragement.

Pup
02-10-2006, 07:08 AM
Mik...all encouragement is welcome...remember those squats are equipped, most i've ever hit raw was 425.

Mik...definitely no hydraulic lift...lol...i just like to make sure everyone knows if i'm lifting equipped or raw, i get really pissed when guys post "inflated" stats
Midee1...its ok, you're old
Bill...not sure yet, i'm contest dieting, but all depends on how my conditioning is...if i'm 8% by april 1st, then i'll do it, that'd give me 4 weeks to drop 2.5%, which is doable

Diet
1500kcals, low carb day

Training (1 min b/w sets)
wide grip pulldowns 180x6, 2 sets
leg curls 160x6, 2 sets
pendlay rows 135x6, 2 sets
bb curls 85x6, 2 sets
bb shrugs 315x6, 2 sets
calf raises 135x6, 2 sets
cable hammer curls 50x6, 2 sets

cardio
7 intervals on the bike (got HR up to like 182 at one point)
-i plan to increase an interval per bike workout til i hit 12 intervals, then i'll start increasing the duration of each interval

note: if the training looks a little bit light, its because i started up the TP-PT training program for the rest of this cut (its the one that Twin Peaks from Avant developed), this week is the start of the volume phase, so it breaks you in slowly

Pup

Ok...here's the deal...last week i was just doing low carb but had kcals about 500 below maintenance...this week i'm rocking the carb cycling, as the volume and intensity of this training pick up i'm going to need more carbs, so i figured i'd just try to follow a low carb/high carb scheme like ST is doing. I change diet plans a lot, as well as training...if i lose you just ask :)

Dammit...simulpost.

Midee1...you're forgiven
Mik...carb cycling is a useful approach because its always changing
Xian...wr0d
Mase...like i said in your journal, experiment with it, straight deficit diets always fail because fat loss isn't linear
Sylvia...you can go anywhere you want darlin...i thought you'd enjoy my new sig ;)
Venom...thnx bro, just wait til the volume in this phase picks up, then it'll be intense
Will...married guys don't need abs...next time you're at a pizza buffet have some pepperoni pizza for me

Diet
High carb day
probably gonna end up around 2800kcals...a little lower than what i was aiming for *shrug*

Training
oly squats 275x6, 2 sets
standing db military press 50x6, 2 sets
leg ext 250x6, 2 sets
inclines 185x6, 2 sets
v-bar pushdowns 90x6, 2 sets
cable x-overs 35x6, 2 sets
ez bar close grips 105x6, 2 sets

cardio
15 min on treadmill *sprint intervals*

note: the close grips are super light for a reason...i started out on flat bench with em at 185 and by the third rep i felt like my collarbone was going to snap, no clue why...so i switched over the the ez bar close grips...the weight was very light and i'll increase it incrementally over the course of the volume phase, but that was a weird experience

Mik
02-21-2006, 05:32 PM
Pup, what's your carb cycle going to look like? Sorry if it's been posted but alas, I'm lazy.

Pup
02-21-2006, 05:47 PM
Mik...i'm gonna play with it to be honest. This first 4 weeks its basically high/low days (high being 2800-3200) (low being 1400-1700) and saturdays i'll be eating closer to 4k and about a 60/20/20 ratio of c/p/f. After that, i may try and use the guidelines that Twin Peaks outlines in his incorporation of carb cycling with the TP-PT training split i'm doing...what that amounts to is basically lower calories at the start of the training cycle (more no days and less high) and that relationship flip-flopping as the training intensity increases. I've never really used a carb cycling approach before so i'm trying to figure out which way works best for my training performance and body composition.

I'm here bro, just been busy and haven't had a chance to get online much. Still going strong in the gym etc. Switching to the TKD this week to see how I like that. The metabolic shift was death and I dropped from 242 - 231 in 3 days.

You workouts are looking good in here... keep up the good work!

Randomness from the weekend
So after friday's training session, I headed to Big Rapids for the weekend to party with my best friend who was graduating. We had a killer time (with the exception of our DD getting pulled over and going to jail, turns out she wasn't so sober, blew a .13). We never did sleep that night. So, saturday we went to graduation, then to his grandma's for lunch. After that I headed up to Cadillac for Larry's show. An excellently put on competition, this was my first as a spectator, I believe that both Larry and Jeff (Larry's main competition and a friend of ours) were screwed in the judging, I hope they are both very proud of their accomplishments. Jeff asked me if this gave me the competitive itch again. In some ways it did, but i think moreso it pushed me towards the platform, I'm a strength athlete who wants to look good, not just a bodybuilder, this show made me realize its time that Rob made competing again a priority and not just a possibility. I don't know when, but hopefully in the next year. After that, then maybe i can think about getting on stage again.

i like board pressing, it gives you a great chance to hit the tri's hard as well as being able to use a lot of heavy weight, the CNS adaptation that occurs just from handling a weight well above your full ROM bench press will make you stronger.

BB rows are one of the VERY few movements I find Smith useful for. Dunno if you've tried 'em, but I do 'em by leaning back with my ass, feet slightly in front of the bar, and pulling up toward my solar plexus.

You have to fiddle a bit to find the sweet spot, but when you do, it feels good, and no back problems. <rubs injured spine>
