When bulking, has anyone tried to wake up at the middle of your sleep and take a high protein shake ?

I have not ever tried to set my alarm @ 4:00 a.m to wake up and have a protein shake,nor I would ever do it.But whenever I wake up in the middle of the night I may go for a prot. shake.

Now i am in the cutting phase, but as soon as i finish it, i would change my diet and training so i would start gaining some more muscle and i am seriously thinking in doing this.
If you should sleep 8 or 9 hours for growing, i think it's a good idea to have protein in the middle of that term.

I agree with Blackie.

I'd have 8-10 hours uninterrupted sleep over a mid-night protein shake anyday.

if you wake up in the night it's usually because you either need to use the bathroom or you are hungry. if you wake up with hunger pains then yes, have a protein shake.

Don't neglect the benefits of a good night's sleep!

I did that when i was major bulking, but onyl for bulking, you must burn more CAL. off thoug, cause all it does is sit in your stomach, I works very good for bulking,,but be sure to be taking close to 300grams pf protein per day,

Why does he need to be taking 300g protein? How did you come up w/ this figure, how does it apply to El Kelio and what does it have to do w/ taking a shake in the middle of the night?


I would think that repeatedly interrupting sleep would hinder progress eventually.

Ok. My actual weight is around 230 pounds ( of course i carry some fat ), so my daily protein ingest should be something like 345 - 460 grams for bulking phase.
My goal is to loose 12 to 15 pounds ( mostly fat ), so when it's time to grow again, i would need 320 to 430 grams of protein.
Of course that's my idea, but the mirror is my main rule and guide.

I usually wake up and take a piss at 4 so I made a shake before i go to bed and i'd set it by my bed and when and if i got up id drink it...

By the way, which protein would be the best ( whey, egg, soy, casein, etc. ) for that "midnight shake" ? :confused:

I'd say drink some slow-digesting protein right before bed instead. Sleep is too important to me.

In the first hour after eating,our blood sugar levels rise and insulin is released,which supports the storage of excess carbs and fat.

While insulin levels are up,growth hormone levels stay down.GH,can melt the fat away but you have to keep a balance between them.
GH is the best fat loss aid and muscle anabolism promoting agent you can "use"..

i never use protein powder except for post workout.
I guess it has some great applications at other time but the p powder here in holland is so fucken expensive and im such a greedy poor guy......

the cheapest i could find around was 750 grams for about 19 dollars. I`m gonna run out of it again some time soon and im tired of paying for that shiat.

seeing internet sites offer jars of 5 lbs for like 23 dollars makes me

only thing is most dont ship to europe and those that do need visa or mastercard which i dont have.
any sites that sell it in holland will have some commercial combination powders that are overpriced and a lot of soy crap.

Somebody needs to send me a proper load and id pay for the shipping
would still be cheaper than them crap prices over here

only 72.5% protein!
i mean just compare optimum whey is like way more % protein and much cheaper. tastes better too as this **** is unflavoured.

somebody needs to be a good wbb member and make a deal with me so i can save some money
