Do you think it can cause damage?
Do you know why there is a popping sound when you crack your knuckles?

I've done some reading on this but I was wondering what others thought?

Looks like the concensus is "It doesn't cause arthritis, but don't do it anyway."

i heard it has to do with your muscles and bones causing some sort of friction/popping noise.

I have another question - how do you get rid of this habit?
I know I can just stop doing it for a while, but then after a couple of days/weeks when I feel nervous about something it comes back
and I start cracking my knuckles again, then my stupid joints seem to hurt and I do it again and again and again.

Do you guys feel pain in your knuckles too? I do in my neck and back and fingers, mostly in my neck. Funny thing if my neck hurts I 'crack' it BUT the pain in the neck doesnt seem to go away until I crack my fingers too, which is very wierd.

Is there anyone here who had a big problem with this, and who succesfully got rid of it? Can you give my any idea what to do?
thanks.

For some reason, I started cracking my knuckles a few months ago and I couldn't stop doing it for awhile, but a few weeks ago I just suddenly stopped... wierd.

Dont do it if it hurts! stopping it its one of those habits you have to keep at stopping for a while imo...
