So, when on a cutting diet, what should you aim to reduce/cut? I've always believed that a reduction in cals = weightloss, but then I stumbled over this thread, :

and this trainer at my gym is totally convinced that you will only do an efficent cut if you reduce your carb intake.

what do you think?

that thread doesn't seem to be about cutting carbs vs. cutting calories but anyway...

i don't think that it necessarily has to be cutting carbs. i read the sticky about cheating on the weekends, Severed Ties journal, and a bunch of articles by bernardi(sp) and i am beginning to think that you can cut almost without a calorie defecit. i am still on the edge but i have spent a lot of my free time lately reading and experiementing with some of the things mentioned in the readings and have seen some results. this may not be helpful or even anything you are looking for but i figured i would share anyway

and 5 years ago, they would have told u the same thing about fat, IMO (unless using a CKD or UD2 type diet), its more about cutting calories than carbs specifically (although when you do cut calories, your going to cut carbs).

Whatever works for you. I wouldn't necessarily say cut carbs, but I would definately cycle them.
