Still fat. :D

Bottom line: last time I tried the journal thing I was in no condition to do it. My grandfather had recently died, I had a phobia regarding ingesting pills, and I was cramming for the SAT- and ketosis certainly didn't facilitate that. :)

Now, I intend to look like a stud worthy of my grandfather's memory ( :D ), and no f****** little fish oil capsules or standardized tests are going to stand in my way.

I'm still working out my weight plan, and figuring out where it'd be most efficient to lift. I'm about to leave in a few minutes for McDonalds- my last dirty meal for two weeks, until the first refeed- if all goes well.

If I fail, I've got noone to blame but myself. I've constantly told myself "oh, it's Friday, wait until the new week starts", or "it's a holiday soon, you might as well wait", and I've ended up prolonging this ridiculous level of fitness (or lack thereof) for months. No "perfect" deadlines, no waiting for the right time, no assessing the situation minutely.

I'm taking something Belial said to heart, and I paraphrase: the details will get you into a competition, but it's balls to walls dieting and working out that will get you the body you desire.

My balls are quite nice, gentleman. They're sizely. :)

WHOSE CUISINE REIGNS SUPREME!

Haha- what happened was.. ok, I told myself no more excuses. :) I caved in to half a glass of Coca Cola.. and then half a glass turned into a 64 oz. cup from 7-11. :( But that was then and this is a new beginning. :)

...I didn't go to McDonalds yet because I can't find my shoes. I seriously just looked for five minutes and I don't know where they are. lol.

Thanks. :)

McDonalds ended up being closed that late so I went to the Oregon Diner.. large cheeseburger deluxe w/fries, four 12 ounce glasses of chocolate milk, and a huge ($5.50) piece of cheesecake.

I've started the PSMF, but it's super sloppy and I'm refining it now, making sure I hit my macros and water, etc. I'll take my time tomorrow and make sure to nail it, and post my first entry.

Thanks again, guys. :)

I'll update this as the day goes along, but here's my first entry:

Weight: 231 lbs

Diet
Meal 1:
(6) oz. 93 % lean ground turkey
(.5) cup of mixed vegetables (primarily cauliflower, brocolli, etc.)

Meal 2:
(6) oz. 93% lean ground turkey
(1) cup of mixed vegetables (primarily cauliflower, brocolli, etc.)

Meal 3:
1 can of tuna
1 glass of Hi-C

Total water consumption: 84 ounces.

Total intake

Protein/Fat/Carbohydrates
78 grams 59% 312 calories / 14 grams 11% 126 calories/ 41 grams 31% 164 calories

Calories: 602.

;_; I messed up.

Exercise

None.

Sleep
3 am - 10 am
7 hours.

Comments
I'm guesstimating the fat content of that turkey.. 4 oz of 90% is 8 grams, so I figure that 6 oz of 93% is also roughly 8 grams.

Feeling ok.

So.. yeah, mangs, I sort of don't have this thing down yet. Trying. :(

Weight: 229.2 lbs

1.8 lbs less of Organichu.

Diet
Meal 1:
(2) snack sized jello containers (hey, they have two grams of protein..)

Meal 2:
(1) serving Nitrean with water

Meal 3:
(1) can of tuna w/ mustard (ew, disgusting taste.. I must find the leanest mayonnaise around.. with it I could conceivably bear the abnormality which is this diet.

Meal 4:
(4) egg whites

Meal 5:
(1) serving Nitrean with water

Meal 6:
(8) oz. of boneless chicken breast

Macro Breakdown
Protein / Carbohydrate / Fat

Water: 75 ounces.

Exercise

Sleep

1:30 AM - 11 AM hours

9.5 hours (very good)

Comments

VERY happy with today.. finally nailed the diet, though it was painful.

Sleep was good and water wasn't terrible.

Can't recomment the Nitrean enough- great stuff.

I REALLY have to get a gym membership; I'm going to waste away if I eat sub-1000 calories/day with no lifting.

Hop to that gym membership bro. Severely restricting cals and not lifting weights will leave you dead quick (ok not dead but still). I'm doing a similar diet, so I'm following your journal and I'm gonna be harping on you until you get consistent lifting in here. Diet looked good today, although I would add fish oil caps. I lifted. I haven't lifted in SO long, and even when I did it wasn't serious. I was actually pleasantly surprised by my strength.

E-Z bar bicep curls: 40 x 8 60 x 4 80 x 3

Barbell shoulder shrugs: 120 x 8 140 x 4 (I think I did these with poor form, because I don't think I should be able to go so heavy.)

BB row: 60x6 60x2 40xfailure (I'm not sure how many reps it was)

Also, I've lost some weight..

I started this diet at 231 lbs. I'm now at 226.

5 lbs less of Organichu.

Yes, I realize the likeness between me and Pikachu.. it's intentional. ;)

Where can I get some healthy salsa? The mild salsa I have has two grams of sugar per tablespoon.. I think it's tostitos.

Also, how is sugar alcohol? I've been holding myself over with breath mints.

EDIT: I've been taking the fat supplements as Lyle said. I forgot to mention them, and didn't include them in my diet profile. Sorry. Consider them a constant.

Well, I'm getting on my aunt's family plan at Bally's.

I haven't been dieting hardcore for the last day or two because I'm paranoid about losing too much lbm, until I can get into the gym.

My aunt called and spoke with her sales associate and it will cost me $20 down and $28 per month.

Not bad at all, as there's a Bally's only four blocks from my school. I couldn't possibly be any happier.

We go Monday for me to get signed up and all, and I suppose I'll do my first workout either then or Tuesday.

I'm not going to /splurge/ today and tomorrow as I don't want to gain back the 6 lbs I lost, but I'm going to eat a solid 2,000 calories, just to err on the safer side.

Off to drink a soda. :D

Got in my first serious workout at Bally Total Fitness today.

Rep and set scheme was as follows; I was mildly surprised by the strength of my deadlift, but a bit disappointed by my mediocre seated lat pulldowns.

Incline bench press:
8x40 6x60 3x80

Seated row:
8x75 6x90 5x115

Lat pulldown:
6x60 4x90 2x105

Deadlift:
8x125 6x145 6x165

The personal trainer there told me the bar was 35, but it looked and felt like a standard Oly.. I'm calling it 35 rather than 45; underestimation seems the better route.

First leg workout.. my quads are MELTED right now.

Prone leg curl: 8x70, 6x90, 3x110

Seated calf extension: 10x60, 6x100, 2x120

Quad sled: 15x40, 8x100, 6x140, 3x220

Squats: 8xbw, 6x65, 135 FAIL. Almost hurt myself here, I've never squatted before.

Thanks! I'm eating chicken right now; I'll post the day's diet when it's over, later tonight. I intend for this to be the day I jumpstart the seriousness of my PSMF, after all of the slacking while switching between places to workout.

I'll now be working out almost exclusively at the Bally Total Fitness at broad and Walnut. I'm pleasantly surprised by the caliber of some of the lifters there.. there are several marathon runners that use the cardiovascular section, and quite a few powerlifters in the free weights room. I got a thumbs up and a wink from this huge guy when he saw me deadlifting. Made me feel non-newbish. Then I couldn't dead 200. Then I felt noobish. :D

Good luck with your goals man. Maybe next leg session you should try squatting first so you are not so burned out from the other leg movements.

Organichu
03-08-2005, 11:45 AM
All right, thanks.

I think it may have simply been burn out.. really, my legs were jelly by that point. Considering I could do a leg press over 200 lbs, I don't think it would be outrageous to expect to be able to squat decently. Either my core's amazingly weak, or I was just fatigued.

I felt like a noob with the big crash in the power rack. :D

Well, I'm still alive.. I did my first full body workout. God, there was so much testosterone flowing.. not my heaviest session, but definitely my most conclusive.

Deadlift: 45x6, 98x6, 165x6.
I think I may be doing these incorrectly.. rounding my back some. Too much sharp pain, not enough ache lol.

Seated behind the neck shoulder presses: 45x6, 65xno
This pissed me off.. I know I could have pressed it, but I couldn't frigging unrack it!! True, I could have hoisted it on my shoulders while standing than sat down.. but I figure if I can't unrack it, I have no business lifting it.

Standing DB Lat Raises: 15x6, 15x6, 10x6

Seated behind the neck press: 15x6, 25x5

Barbell shrugs: 135x5, 205x1/2
Heh.

Parallel (or close, at least) squats: BWx4, 45x8, 75x6, 80x6

Hackslide (squat?): 90x8, 140x6, 190x5

Lying DB rows: 25x8, 25x8, 25x8, 30x12

rookiebldr
03-22-2005, 10:09 PM
No need to do those shoulder presses behind the head. You'll find it easier in front and can likely do a few more reps.

On the deads, yeah avoid rounding the back by looking up high and keeping the chest out as you ascend.

Keep working it, dude.

I do my first really extensive depletion workout tomorrow.. I'm looking for a lot of sets (30+).

I just thought I'd mention something: I don't really know my absolute *maxes* yet.

I can dead 165x1 rather easily, though with a little twinge.. I think my form's slightly off. I think I could hit 200x1.

I can squat 80x1 rather easily, though with a few balance issues. I think that I could hit 125x1.

I think that I can bench roughly 100x1.

This puts my estimated total at 425.

I hope to increase this by 35% (making my new total 573.75 lbs) by Christmas of '05.

I'm looking for a breakdown something like this:

Deadlift: 260 lbs.
Squat: 175 lbs.
Bench: 140lbs.

Setting this record for myself now.

EDIT: I'm upping these. Need a challenge. These goals are now for the middle of summer.. say, July 15th.

Goals for December 25th, 2005:
Deadlift: 300 lbs.
Squat: 200 lbs.
Bench: 175 lbs.

675 lb total.

So, I am so serious it's almost absurd. I took a complete break for a few days, ate crap- an entire bbq chicken pizza, several two liters of soda (each day), etc. I gained absolutely no weight. Sweet!

Day 1
Current weight: 229.6 pounds

Workout:

Squat: 45 x 6, 65x6, 75x6, 95x6

Bent Over DB Rows (per arm): 25x6, 35x6, 35x6

Seated Lat Pulldown: 36x6, 60x6, 72x6, 96x6

Standing Calf Raise (1-2 second top-contraction): 45x6, 65x10, 65x10

Flat Crunches w/ weight: BWx10, 10lbsx12, 25lbsx10

Nutrition:

Meal 1: 6 egg whites. (This was actually 7, but I was in a rush and didn't completely separate the whites- plus I didn't scrape the pan. So I'm subtracting six.)

How tall are you? For some reason, I seem to remember you saying you were 6'2 or 6'3 or somwthing. If so, then I'm close to your size. This probably means little or nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I was benching about 120 in September (when I started all weights), and now I'm at about 200. My deads have gone from a max of 205 x 1 in January (1st time I did them) to 300 x 4 a couple weeks ago. I don't have a squat rack just yet, but I can do 60 reps (broken down into 20 x 3) with 135 (yes, this means I have to lift that weight into position as well..lol), and I thought 135 was gonna kill me about 3 months ago. Granted, I am a big-legged kinda guy, but I thought this might give you a bit of inspiration since I'm close to your size, being 6'1 239 (lost a few lbs!), and fairly new to the game in my own right.

Patz
04-11-2005, 11:28 PM
oh, and remember that your grip is gonna suck for a while, and you may want to work wiht a mixed grip on those deadlifts. I can't even get the bar off of the ground at 275 and above unless I reverse one of my hands. I also do this with heavy barbell shrugs, like a 205 x 8.

I've been told that it's a good idea to mix up the mixed grip evenly...for example, if you reverse the left hand for a set with 165, then on the next set do it with the right hand. This supposedly will even out the work on your back, as it puts added stress in certian places with the mixed grip. The same applies for shrugs as well.

So there, on the bus, I took off my pants (I was wearing my basketball shorts underneath) and stuck them in my schoolbag- why? I have my wallet in my pants. I then put my wallet in my back pocket and rolled my pants into a ball and put them under everything in my bag.
