If I weigh 150lbs and 100lbs is muscle...and you follow the 1gram of protein per pound diet then you would be eating 150grams of protein. What about when you have a person who weighs 200lbs with 100lbs of mucle (So the same amount of muslce, just fatter). Doesn't the protein help with muscle growth and have nothing to do with fat. I may be wrong, this question may make no sense, but I just thought I would throw it out there.

I may be wrong (I gotta read more) But if protein is what helps muscle growth, then wouldn't protien be more based on how much muscle mass you have?

If you want to get techniquel, protein consumption should mainly be based on muscle mass.
1gram/lbs is just a guide.

SO if I have 160lbs of muscle mass...then I should eat 160grams of protein? No matter whether I gain or lose fat in the process?

rough estimate:

160-180 cutting
180-200 bulking

dont eat protein based on muscle mass, eat it based on weight. that general formula is meant to allow for some fat weight.

1 gram per pound of body weight...no need to complicate it.
