some people worry about it having high levels of mercury, but i don't know if their fears are realistic.

A can a day shouldn't be a problem. The frequently cited FDA recommendation with much lower limits (around a can per week) that you might've seen is intended for pregnant women.

i don't know how you are w/ eating things you don't like, but i figured i'd share. i tried incorporating tuna into my diet, and ate 1-2 cans daily. i would eat it w/o mayo because i seldom have mayo. i got soo sick of it very quickly, and i know only eat it when i can have it w/ mayo, which is rare because mayo isn't very good for ya

I eat 2-3 cans per day and have been doing so for the past 6 months or more.
No problems so far.

Unless you crack open an old thermometer and take a swig, it'll take many years for mercury to have any noticeable detrimental effect. Hopefully there'll be some definitive studies on safe intake levels now that the FDA has taken more of an interest in mercury levels, but until then, I'd play it safe and stick to about a can per day.

i think people that are worried about getting mercury posioning from eating tuna are just paranoid...i usually don't eat tuna unless i'm at work (part-time job) and then i eat about 2 or 3 cans. Last week during my break i went through 16cans in 8 days...lol
