View Full Version : Fruit or oatmeal?

If i'm having a snack that isn't either pre- or post- workout, would it be better to go with fruit or oatmeal as a carb source? Oatmeal is complex carb, but a lot of fruits like apples actually have lower GI than oats. So which is preferrable...lower GI fruit (Apples are like 37) or complex carbs like oats (GI is like 55)

Oatmeal i would think. More calories, less sugar.

Fruit has gotten a bit of a bad rap.

Don't fear the fruit. Eat a freaking banana, for God's sake. It won't hurt you.

oatmeal will keep you full longer. eat them both.
