A new study tested the effect of regularly taking green tea extract (GTE) and found that over 10 weeks, endurance exercise performance was boosted up to 24% with 0.5% GTE supplementation, and 8% with 0.2% by-weight addition to food.

Follow the link (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/01/050128221248.htm).

If that's not enough to make you start taking it, I don't know what is.

What immediately grabs my attention is the fact that the study suggests high doses are not required:

Although it's difficult to extrapolate from mice eating GTE as a food supplement to a major leaguer or Olympic swimmer sipping green tea, the study's lead author, Takatoshi Murase said: "We estimate that an athlete weighing 75 kilograms (165 pounds) would have to drink about four cups (0.8 liter) of green tea daily to match the effect in our experiments."

and therefore one could reap these benefits by simply drinking reasonable amounts of green tea rather than supplementation.

Would it not be worth takin green tea caps rather than drinking, it as it's not cheap here and wouldn't the dosage from caps be higher?

Quite possibly, but some of us enjoy drinking green tea ;)

I googled to find that 3 to 4 cups per day equates to 100mg extract cap in terms of polyphenols. The caps I got from 1fast400 are 400mg and I've been taking one per day, so I guess that's enough??

where can you get those 400mg caps? I would love to buy some as drinking green tea is not currently part of my lifestyle.

at first I couldn't smell the stuff, but the more you drink it the easier it is to drink. Seeing that study I will be gulping it down cup after cup.

Green tea= pwnag3. IMO, there are still probably many health benefits to green tea we have yet to learn about. I think it's a product that should be used year-round.

Nevermind, googled it.

I just ordered some caps off of 1fast400. Some of the other caps have other **** added to them, which is why I passed over them. Also ordered some ON whey, at the advice of just about everybody.

green tea is very good for, but you don't have to take it from me take it from pubmed. I might suggest, however, that you buy the tea for preferably the whole fresh form. Here is the place i buy my tea http://store.teavana.com/greenteas.html .

It comes in plastic bags and all you have to do is warm water up put the tea in for about a min to five min. depends on how bitter you like it. It's fresh tesh tea, not that processed crap. Its also reuseable up to three times, which means its cheaper than buying it in the little bags. I should also mention it taste much better. Oh yeah, if your not use to drinking green tea you should drink it after eating or you might get nausea.

I should mention that i only buy mandarin green tea, which is tasty.

would this be more beneficial than just GTE because it contains GTE as well as increased amounts of EGCG...

EGCG Extract with Green Tea? (http://www.nowfoods.com/?action=itemdetail&item_id=42834)

The EGCG is what you want out of the green tea, as far as thermogenics are concerned. Lean Green by Primaforce is supposedly the most potent EGCG supplement.

What is IGF?

If it's the same as what I've researched in college - Insulin-like Growth Factor.

I added these to my last 1fast400 order. 100ct 400mg Caps for $5.99, you can't beat that.

http://www.1fast400.com/?products_id=552

I'm taking the GTE with my ECA stack and my energy and focus levels seem to have improved. 1fast400 also sells powder extract. Actually brewing green tea for me would be difficult because I'm always on the go.

Are all Green Tea packets created equal? Can I just pickup anything at the market or should I be looking for something specific?

i think green tea extract is just so much better than the tea itself..
u get more bang for the buck .. unless u actually like the taste of hot tea

Bump

I've been taking two 315mg caps every day since the above post. Though decided to buy it at the weekend in tea form and drink it, it i expected worse but it really isn't too bad. Question is, how much mgs/g's is likely to be in 'your average' cup? It doesn't specify on the box. Just curious?

AtLarge's Thermocin contains a full dose of green tea. Give it a try, you will be happy you did.

Thats very interesting. Sometimes I will pour a cup of green tea into the blender along with my other protien shake ingredients. Ill have to check out the thermocin when its time. Usually I drink my tea hot and plain, similar to the way I like my women.

Not sure about the mgs/gs measures.

what green tea is good that you can find in your local supermarket?

shansen008

Try white tea extract, its much higher in polyphenols. Supposedly White/green/black tea all come from the same plant...just depends on when its harvested apparently.

The caps i got at GNC have like 3x the polyphenol content of the green tea caps.

Shao-LiN

You'll want to pay attention to the EGCG content as well.
