View Full Version : Finally Rookie's Picture Thread... after 4 long years.

03-10-2005, 01:36 AM
A lot of you have already seen my pictures in my journal where I usually post my progress and people can see my visual results.

For those who don't venture to journal land just a brief update maybe in order. I started working out 4 years ago this month. At 43, 185lbs and 27% bodyfat, it's been a fun time trying to achieve the results I'm looking for myself. I have a long way to go with both age and genetics against me.

I'm currently 47 and still 185. I maybe as low as 15% now and plan on getting a bit leaner. I could also use a tan, hoping to get one in florida over the next few weeks. :)

03-11-2005, 12:11 AM
Thanks everyone for all the comments. It really is appreciated. I plan on taking a few more as I tan up and lean up a bit more. A few special replies are in order though.

Doc: You may if you can find ones that show anything. I was 160-165 then having done another of many bulks and cuts. I might have a back pic from that era as well.

nevermore: They are posted in the Arnold thread. Thanks man, that comment made my night.

John0101: I definitely need to work on my posing. I find back particularily hard since I usually don't have anyone taking the pic and telling me how the pose is looking. This was a second attempt but I still need more work.

Ms. Petey: That explains why you never notice any difference when you see me... I'm a really good photoshopper. ;)

Blood&Iron: I need to find the addy again, but I'll send them tonight. And that pic was awesome... I couldn't believe it worked so well.

Ectx: You know damn well you will, else someone's going to ...um... kick your ass.

Galileo: Just get there while you're still in your twenties. ;) And yeah, I know what you think. Thanks Gal. :)

Callahan: Coming.

Ok, I found two, one from 2002 and another from 2003. The 2003 one was after a cut. I was sitting 158 or so with still some chest and ab fat.

03-11-2005, 12:35 AM
Back is looking great Jeff, even better in person

03-11-2005, 01:02 AM

03-14-2005, 12:15 PM
Awesome pics Jeff! That back is crazy - wish mine looked that good! You've had really outstanding progress lately, congratulations buddy.

03-14-2005, 06:11 PM
The cutting has done you VERY well. Looking awesome, Jeff. I hope I look near that good at that age.

03-21-2005, 01:07 PM
It was great hearing the props in person. Thanks again.

Yeah, I was 158lbs and still had a gut. I think I might have been 13%-15% bf then.

Mason, Cra-Z:
Thanks guys.

Even better then a WOW! ;) Thanks buddy.

With your base, you should tons better in the 20+ years. Don't ever stop pumping the iron.

03-21-2005, 01:13 PM
So... A week later from the arnold and being horrible sick with a
chest cold, tons of water intake, tossing cookies from both ends and
I'm now a depleted 180 so that's about 8-10 lbs lighter in a week.

These were taken a week ago with the camera set too low, but it's all I have at the moment. With the weight loss, I finally feel somewhat comfortable showing my front, freshly shaved this time with the start of a tan/burn showing. lol

03-21-2005, 01:38 PM
you look great Jeff! hope you enjoyed your holiday! nice tan! :)

the one
03-21-2005, 08:08 PM
****kkin sweet man, and i wont mention age like everyone else haha good job

03-21-2005, 08:38 PM
Chest is a strong also. Work on the traps they seem to be lagging.

03-21-2005, 09:10 PM
Your back especially looks great Rookie!

03-22-2005, 07:06 PM
That's really impressive. Pretty fly for an old guy.

03-22-2005, 07:25 PM
Damn Jeff, nice new pics. Chest is looking impressive.... I'm jealous. :(

03-23-2005, 01:38 PM
Thanks, I look even better now! :hump:

And a One:
Thanks for keeping age comment out. I'm planning to look so ****ing good, that "for your age" won't be issued at all!

I'm actually surprised the chest is showing so well, I've always considered it one of my weakest body parts, so thanks. As for traps, they will always need improvement but with that angle I think it's especially hard to see them. I've attached another photo which displays them a bit better, I think.

Shane, Rex:
Thanks guys.

Jealous? bah.. I've seen your pics, you're huge, I'm jealous!

03-23-2005, 01:56 PM
Looking solid Jeff!

Isaac Wilkins
03-23-2005, 05:40 PM
Truly looking awesome, bro.

I'm amazed at how far you've come.

03-24-2005, 01:31 PM
:withstupi on just about everything.

Wheelz pix? They're prolly huge...lol.

03-25-2005, 02:26 AM
Your build seems pretty unique to me... most guys ignore their back, shoulders, etc and only train arms, whereas you have outstanding traps, back, and shoulders but seemingly underdeveloped arms! Your chest looks very good too.

Feels weird giving this piece of advice but do you do direct work for your arms? Bigger triceps/biceps would compliment your physique very well, especially with poses like the side chest and the rear double biceps.

You look good for any age, for 47 you look incredible. Good job.

03-25-2005, 09:17 AM
Thanks Anthony.

I'm starting to be amazed too. :)

Actually, the legs aren't all that big. The last pic I took of them was December. I'll re-post it here. They've lost some more size with the cut and I I need to focus a lot of effort on them this year to bring them up.

It's definitely unique. ;) Genetics is an interesting friend.

Thanks for the props. I've worked my shoulders and chest esp hard this year to bring them up. I still think I have a long way to go for the chest but it's starting to show much better with a smaller waist. I've always trained arms, various routines and frequency and they just have the hardest time growing. When I started, they were a fat 13" and with the first cut dropped down to 12" or so. Now they are about 15" decreasing a bit more on this cut. So I totally agree with your assessment, they really do need to be bigger to compliment the rest of me but it's not for a lack of trying. :(

I may yet find the secret.

Along with the leg re-post, I thought I'd re-post my last summer comparison pic. :D

10-20-2006, 09:48 AM
I guess it's been about a year since the last update of pics. So in the interest of self-whoring here are a few new ones and some that hit my journal recently.

The calf pic is a reflection from my car with a bit of a concave surface thus shorting the leg and widening it. Yep, artistic, maybe but certainly made it look a hell of a lot bigger. ;)

I'm currently still 5' 7" :( and sitting about 195lbs. Arms and legs still need a lot of work and likely always will. And one of these days, I'll lean down to 10%. lol

10-20-2006, 09:58 AM
oh! looking real good there Jeff me likes :)

10-20-2006, 11:09 AM

10-20-2006, 06:38 PM
Awesome job Rookie!! Continued progression in your upper 40's keeps me thinking I've still got a ways to go.. on the lower 40's anyway..

10-20-2006, 11:32 PM
Still sexy as always, and looking bigger to boot.

10-21-2006, 12:26 AM
That's one wiiiiiiiide back. Congrats!

10-21-2006, 08:18 PM

Looks like low bodyfat muscle to me!

Also, check out of the size of those pecs, delts and thick upper pec and traps!

10-21-2006, 09:24 PM
Definitely looking good, old man! ;)

Fantastic body for a person at your age

looking good man especially for being so old.

Lookin' great, man. Delts really pop in the new front pic. Excellent job! :)

Clifford Gillmore
10-23-2006, 06:53 AM
Looking awesome rookie! Wide and thick.

10-24-2006, 11:33 PM
oops, time to reply. I really do appreciate the comments. One of these days I'll lean up and feel a lot better about doing decent poses but for now, I'm still trying to gain more muscle and I'm not dedicated to losing the fat.

Sylvia: Thanks love. You wait till you see me in person which is when again?

Grumpy: Thanks man.. good to see you back here.

Stash: lol I'm trying.. grrrrrrr

P-Power: lol yeah, I really should hide the face more often.

Rendier: Thanks... now give me your arms. ;)

Andrew: Hope the new gym worked out well. I'll have to give it a go too.

Hill: Thanks man.

Bearwolf: yep, you ain't the oldest here. ;)

Dave: Yep, way sexy bro.

K1M: thanks

BBgonnabe: LOL no, if I had abs, I'd have taken the pics with the light head on. ;)

Guido: :whip: ;)

Gabrielle: Thanks bro. Next up is to be as good as the 30 year olds.

Heath: Well at least you didn't mention being short.

Mike: They pop even better on shoulder day. :) Thanks.

Risk: We are our own worst critics and it's only recently that I've begun to feel that I am decently wide and finally thickening up. Thanks for saying so. :)

10-25-2006, 09:03 AM
Looking great there, ur age may be 47 but ur body puts a lot of guys half ur age to shame.

Inspirational stuff.

10-25-2006, 09:10 AM
I must have missed this when you first posted!

You look great Jeff. I don't know why you're scared to lose a couple pounds ... you'd end up looking even bigger in the long run!

Maki Riddington
10-25-2006, 06:31 PM
I hate Razors. Looking awesome Rook!!! You have really changed over the years.

10-25-2006, 07:15 PM

Tsmithy: Thanks. I'll be 50 next year and I hope to look 25. I better get a face lift too! ;)

Anthony: LOL Once I get the 17"-18" arms like you had before the cut, then maybe I'll go for abs. As it is, i'll end up with sticks for arms if I cut now! Thanks bud!

Maki: Maki, thanks for noticing. The changes never occur exactly like you want them too, unfortunately I've yet to learn how Arnold used to "sculp" himself by just adding muscle here and there to get that physique. However, considering when I started, I'm pretty pleased.

10-26-2006, 08:42 AM
Goddang you're lookin' thick old man! Amazing progress!

10-26-2006, 09:01 AM
The amount of width you've added to your back since I've started following your progress is really amazing.

You had a :( around being 5'7" still. Do you have plans to increase this stat? If so, please share. I wouldn't mind being an inch or two taller as well. :p

the doc
10-26-2006, 09:36 PM
keep it up! looking thick there!

the doc
10-26-2006, 09:38 PM
one thing i noticed is that we both have similar arm builds. I have trouble building and keeping mass on the arms. It seems everytime I cut I lose all of my arm muscles instead of lovehandles...lol

the doc
10-26-2006, 09:42 PM
oh and speaking of legs. I just measured my legs last night. as you might remember they were about 28-29 inches at their largest. Now after knee sugery I have lost almost 4 inches
They are coming back but damn that really sucked. I have gotten up to 75% of my former squat working weight after 7 months of rehab/surgery/rehab

10-27-2006, 09:27 AM

Mike: Thanks, little guy. ;)

Scott: lol yeah it has changed alot, concidering at our first gym meeting you were showing me how to do chins and I could barely get 1 or 2 and me at 165lbs. As for the 5' 7", not even gh is gonna help me. :(

Mark: Yep, my arms and delts continue to be pretty lean even though I'm over 15% bf. Clearly all sitting around the waist. As for your squats, 75% is damn good considering everything you've been through. And you're still sporting bigger legs than me!

11-01-2006, 02:20 PM
I am in awe jeff, you look amazing!!

And that back Dizzzamn!!!!!!! Keep doing what your doing rook
