This is probably a stupid question but, what does cottage cheese do for you, and why do so many people insist on eating it so much?

It gives you acne and makes your testicles shrink.

Edit: The original post was a joke. Cottage Cheese, when getting the low fat kind, is a wonderful addition to your diet, due to the carbs and protein!

Its a relatively cheap source of protein. One cup of cottage cheese has 32 g or protein. And its low fat, and not many carbs.

I also believe it contains casein as well (a slower digesting kind of protein) so it is good right before bed....

Yep...that's when I have my Cottage Cheese!

Pruneman, personally, I think the taste of cottage cheese (not much taste with Non-Fat) is okay, but I usually try to eat it with some fruit to make it taste a WHOLE lot better.

Cottage cheese is like low-fat milk but with less carbs.

Dry curd cottage cheese is super low in fat and carbs, but high in protein.

Casein protein is superior to whey, other than possibly around lifting.

Calcium is beneficial for fat loss.

Cottage Cheese is a cheap and great source of protein. I too eat mine as my last meal before bed.
