I've been training now for 10yrs and competeing for just a couple of years. I've always been extremely dedicated and motivated when it comes to working out, diet etc.. but lately I've been under so much stress that all I can say is F**k everything and I can't get the motivation back and its driving me insane for being like this because its not me...you guys ever get like this?

I'm suffering from pretty much the opposite. I find myself completely consumed with lifting and eating. To the point that I sleep through class to get 8-9 hours. I'm late for lab and leave during class to eat or train. Everything seems to be meaning less and less and honestly it's starting to scare me. But when it comes down to it, if you dont like something about your life you just have to change it, easier said than done.
I think it can happen either way and they can both be negative. Losing motivation towards anything you feel is important can obviously be bad. But I also think it's good to take a step back and take a different approach to things to ensure your well rounded. It's ok to lose motivation now and again, just make sure it's for a good reason and you learn something from it.

First, if you can, go on a long weekend vacation, jsut get away from it all and spend time away from everything. Clera your head from the stress.
Come back with specific goals in mind, for the show, work, family etc. My big thing is if I am feeling lazy about going to the gym (granted I am not a competitive BB) but I throw in a DVD that pumps me up, like Pumping Iron, or one of Levrone's traning DVD's. After about 5 min I am in the car going to the gym.
Also maybe you need a new lifting partner or maybe need a change of scenery as with your gym. I know some of the competitve BB around me, drive to the different Gold's in town, just to keep things fresh.

I ended up taking almost a year off as a result. The stress didn't end so easily in my case.

Stress is such a total drain on training. I just had a bad bout with it, and it didn't stop me from working out but it definitely killed my progress and will to do it.
I spent 2 days trout fishing with no cell-phone signal. That did the trick for the most part.

i've found lifting & cardio to be far more therapeutic than a lot of other things. while i might go "oh man i don't wanna go to the gym, i got this to do or that, or im tired, or whatever" before i leave for the gym, i keep in mind that it's something that'll be enjoyable when i'm there.
