If my maintenance cals right now are around 3000, and i start my cut at 2400 cals, should i reduce it to 2200 next week (cuz my body might adjust to 2400 by next week?), or is 2400 close enough to my maintenance that my body wouldn't go into starvation mode?
Any advice?
thanks

You only lower the calories when you stop seeing results at 2400, soo you may lose weight on 2400 calories for like say a month, after said month weight loss stops you say hmmm, down daily caloric intake 100-200 voila.

I'd do something similar to what Jabberwocky said. I wouldn't drop your calories a week after dropping them the first time. Even if for some bizarre reason you aren't losing as much as you'd like in the first few weeks I'd be more inclinded to burn more calories (via cardio) than remove them. It gives you less room later on to adjust and will make the end of your cut that much harder because you'll be at a point where you're already very low cal and having to increase your cardio. Just my 2 cents though.
