hey everyone, when is the appropriate time to weigh your meats, before or after they are cooked? I realized that they lose about an ounce after you cook them, so your measurement of, per say, four ounces, was correct BEFORE you cooked it, but after, its off by about an ounce. Does it still contain the nutrients it contained as the 4 oz before you cooked it, or do you now have to divide? Any help is dearly appreciated.

Nope.

The protein doesn't magically disappear, don't worry. Weigh it raw.

If you ever fit day foods, theres a correlation between cooked/raw meats. Something like raw chicken breast is 31 kcal an oz raw, while cooked is 50 something. Personally i weigh them raw, but as V said, the protein dosent magically disapear.

Weighing meats is something I have never done but I think it's a great idea to do. Usually I have a decent idea of what looks like 4 ounces so I go off that when estimating how much meat I eat.

i weigh all my meat products, cheese, cottage cheese, muesli, pasta, tuna, damn nearly everything i shove down my throat. It might be obsessive, but theres no way i wanna lose a single gram of protein, carb etc....like i said, compulsive.
