I`m 5'0 even, 132lbs, and I barely maintain weight at 1400/day. If I do 1800/day, I gain like mad.

As a general guide.. (lean body mass) * (14-16) - 500

But, that is just math. It would be much better if you controlled and documented your intake for 2-3 weeks and found your own maintenance calorie level (amount of calories to neither gain nor lose any weight). Subtract 500 from that. If you lose more than 1lb a week, you cut too much. If you don't lose 1lb a week, subtract another 150 cals. Repeat this process until you nail it. It just takes time.

I'm with you. I just posted 3700 as my maintenance + 500. But that's textbook maintenance. Not what I've figured to be my maintenance. At 235lbs I'll maintain my bodyweight at 2400 cals/day + 40mins cardio. So if I were to do no cardio, that's probably about 1800-2000 cals a day for my maintenance. Super ****ty! :(

If I were to bulk, I'd start around 3000cals, and continue to do my cardio. I hate being a fatty :( The even ****tier thing is that my digestive system is very fast, but my metabolism isn't so I'll be starving, but if I go over my calories I start gaining like crazy.

PowerManDL

I maintain on around 3000, supposedly, at ~200 lbs.

Bulking usually doesn't start to kick in till around 4K+

LOL, yeah the bright side. I put on 30lbs in 2 months and took my bench from 380-425 at the same time, and I was only taking M1T + 4AD. I wonder what AAS would do for me?

However, I got super fat.

Fat gain + Muscle gain = easy as pie.

Muscle gain + no fat gain = impossible

Fat loss = incredibly slow. :(

I too feel sorry for Flexx and Gabrielle. I cannot imagine how much that must suck.

I'm 156 and slow bulking on 3700-3800. I think my maintance is some where around 3500. It seems like i haven't gained weight forever so i guess i'll bump it up to 4000 shortly.

Gabrielle
04-07-2005, 07:16 PM
yeah, eating that much is a pain in the ass. I have some 'assistance' if you know what I mean, because I wouldn't eat this much or be this heavy otherwise. When I was 156 years ago I used to eat about much as you Stackattack. I give you props, because most people with abnormally fast metabolism like ours do not stick to working out or eating that much(that is a generality, don't flame me please)

Right now I'm trying to "clean bulk" on 4000-4200 cals/day. By clean I mean gain muscle while keeping fat gain to a minimum. I went up to 5000 for awhile but the fat gain was unacceptable. Did it give faster muscle gains than the 4k I'm on now? I'm not sure yet. I will have to keep on this diet for another couple months before I can decide for sure.

BTW I'm 22, 6', and 212, about 11% bf

Do you actually NEED 8k+ cals to bulk, or is that just the amount you need to bulk at your desired rate? I guess really what Im asking is what your mainteance calories are.
