Sorry for the stupidity, but (oh god, here comes another creatine question, but it's short) Should I keep taking Whey Protein now that I just purchased creatine, and if so, should I just take it after my workouts like usual?
(I couldn't find the answer to this question on any creatine guide :help: :(

I would say absolutely continue taking whey protein. Whey protein and creatine do 2 different things and you need all that protein to build muscle. Creatine helps more with quicker recovery of muscles and giving them a bit of added endurance.
That's like asking should I stop using soap now that I've gotten shampoo?

No problem and really there aren't any stupid questions. The people on this board are super knowledgeable and supportive which is why I came to this one from others. I love this board. If you have a question, there is someone here with an answer I'm pretty sure. Good luck!

I totally disagree with that statement. Newbies on these forums would get their answers a lot faster if they just used the search 99% of the time, but anyway...
Protein powder is a natural thing. It's not some sort of special magical substance. It is just food in powder form. The only time you shouldn't take protein is if you can manage 1.5+g of protein/lb of LBM a day through solids.
The only reason to take it is to make your protein requirement easier to achieve (being able to drink your cals instead of having to pound down another chicken breast). Say you weigh 200lbs, 10% bodyfat. This dictates a protein requirement of 180-270g of protein a day. If you make 180-270g of protein through the normal food you eat, there is no point in taking more. But at the end of the day, if you have taken all your alotted food and haven't hit that number, you would take a protein shake to get what you need. Protein powder does not affect drug supplements any differently than chicken breast or other protein-containing food.
End thread.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately, and i find myself not agreeing wholeheartedly anymore. This board has gotten very large and with so many threads started it can be a pain to use the search and find anything useful anymore, it wasnt always so. I still use the search function, but im knowledgable enough to KNOW what it is im looking for. The standard noob who comes in here is often times not even asking the question properly to get the answer they are looking for, so using the search function doenst always work for them. We are better able to understand what a person means when he says something like "how many sets should i be doing of each rep?" If he were to do a search for that then he wouldnt understand his search results one bit.
Ive been seeing "use the search engine" a lot in replies lately. Half the time i dont really think it applies, its just become a canned response from peoplel If you want to help...then help. If you dont wanna look through another creatine thread...then dont. Threads that dont get responded to disappear quickly enough on their own. People responding with "use the search engine" just needlessly bump annoying threads.

edit: This isnt aimed directly at you dw06wu, just something ive been noticing a lot lately, you did provide help to the OP.

Yeah, I wasn't targeting the op with my statement..just replying to Asylum. I understand where you are coming from but I did say 99%, meaning not all of them. However, I can't help but get slightly irked when I see the same damn threads day in day out. There is only so much patience in the world. I'm sure this is what drives many experienced and knowledgeable lifters from this site. Not that there's anything we can do to change it short of banning, which is uncalled for and ambiguous regarding enforcement.
edit for spelling

Actually, if people used the search engine first, and then made threads, there'd be less of these "fluff" threads, meaning better search results. So in the end, people that don't search first and create repetitive threads, weaken the usefullness of the search engine.
Just browse the first 3 or 4 pages of the supplements forum, and tell me how many threads with creatine are in the title. 99% of the questions asked can be answered from the sticky.

Yeah.. I mean, if you can't think of anything better to title your post than "A very stupid question", then why the **** are you posting it? You just admitted the truth to yourself, which also inherently implies the answer is readily available either through the search, google, or the creatine sticky.
Just think about it; you will get the answer faster anyway. It's not like typing a few extra sentences and clicking your mouse on the submit buttons and links from google requires a lot of effort.

the search function is completely over rated. half the time i use it I can't find the information im seeking. It's like you have to have a specific phrase everytime to get that answer.

if the guy doesn't know exactly what to type then what shall he do?

you just need a ballpark search. After that, it's about putting the time in to actually look for the answer. Reason why people create threads on the same rehashed topics is because they want to be given the answer rather than putting in time to search for it. They feel it is faster and less work for them.
Hell, I'm lazy too...I've done it =).

The problem I find with the search function is that when you type in something like "creatine" for example, you get tons of hits. Half of those hits are from jounals where people have said something like "I took my creatine this morning" or something of that nature. I think for people that are new to the site, it's easier for them just to post the question then to sort through the myriad of hits from the search engine. Now if they know enough to narrow it down that might help some. As for my statement that there is no such thing as a stupid question, it was meant to encourage him to ask rather then feel like it's stupid and not ask. I'd much rather have someone new ask a question we've heard before and get the answers they need then have them abandon the site because too many people have been chewed up and spit out for re-asking a question. I agree with Shansen when he said "If you want to help...then help. If you dont wanna look through another creatine thread...then dont. "

That's great in theory but noobs to the website often don't even know what it is they need to search for specifically. You know what I mean? They come in here and have heard of stuff called creatine. And so they want to know about it.

If they're that vague on it then they should be googling it or looking at the friggin' sticky.

I don't mind answering the same questions over again, especially if someone has put even the slightest effort in trying to find the answers on their own.
But I count 9 ****ing creatine threads on this page alone. I bet there'd be 5 or 6 on every page going back as well. There's also probably at least an article or two on the subject. The search engine does work, it might take 2 or 3 tries before you get to something relevant, you can search by post instead of thread to skim more quickly as well.
BUT, the search function does lose it's usefulness, of a particular forum is flooded with an insane number of threads on the same subject. So sure, ask your question, but the whole point of a forum is to take advantage of all the great discussions we've had in the past as well.
