When you do heavy deads, do you ever wake up the next morning and find that your back is really stiff and sore? Sometimes the next morning (or even 2) after I do deads I will wake up and my lower back, right along my waist, will be really tight and sore. Usually it goes away by the middle of the afternoon, or at least feels better.

Does anyone else have this? Sometimes I get worried that it could be a serious problem, but they always go away and I have similar things happen to my knees and elbows from time to time (the joints just get really sore) and they go away too.

YES, very very sore....but that's what happens when you deadlift till you cant move anymore

yes that means your doing a good job on your deads...usually in the morning u are the most tight [muscle wise] so this tends to happen a lot...especially after a heavy squat/dead day...

The thing is, I don't think it's my muscles that are sore, it's like my tendons or ligaments or something. I'm not exactly sure, but it doesn't feel like regular muscle soreness. It still always goes away though.

well as long as it doesnt "hurt" i wouldnt be worried. you may want to try taking supplements to help with the sore joints like glucosamine.

Sometimes the lower back pump I get (esp from rack pulls) is a bit uncomfortable... usually just when I get a HYOOJ pump for whatever reason though.

I had the lower back "pump" so bad last time the ride home from the gym was uncomfortable and I thought for a while my back was going to seize up... but after sleep that night it was all good.
tightness is normal, pain isnt.
